erock1331 10-06-2005, 11:19 AM Ice is nice, lol MIKE VALENTINE 10-06-2005, 12:30 PM ovalrc i'd rather just see dots and no infield, easy to set up and tear down. or just ice, either one. i have never seen a point to have a wall down the straights, just a waste of time to setup. ovalrc 10-06-2005, 12:48 PM I agree, we only need the two ends and a divider down the middle. Jason Lambert 10-06-2005, 12:54 PM I 2nd the divider and the plastic setup... way less stuff to hit and more racing friendly. harringbone.. you guys with your mod around the dining room table are nuts LOL! MIKE VALENTINE 10-06-2005, 01:07 PM We think you guys with 4 cell stock are nuts. ovalrc 10-06-2005, 02:58 PM I think we're all nuts, grown men playing with toy cars, when will we grow up? I'm hoping never. HECKLER 10-06-2005, 03:18 PM i will talk to chris tonight and i dont think he will have a problem just putting ice down but i know we will make something to seperate the lanes maybe just 1 ince pvc then have it stop right at the tip of the ice .. but how do we hold the ice down i dont think he will want to duck tape it every weekend ? PUF19 10-06-2005, 03:20 PM Most tracks use duct tape, even from corner to corner as a soft inside wall, which is nice if you have trouble, you can pull off the line... MIKE VALENTINE 10-06-2005, 03:27 PM velcro. tripleh3 10-06-2005, 04:15 PM Hey Smyka the ice shouldnt move if we dont hit it fastforward 10-06-2005, 05:00 PM ice would suck there. too many people would be putting the car in no-mans land to pass.more wrecks.maximus got better since they pulled the ice out jmo. PUF19 10-06-2005, 05:42 PM I think the old Max was way better... Bill Johnson 10-06-2005, 06:13 PM I think the old Max was way better... Way more forgiving too................. Bill Johnson 10-06-2005, 06:14 PM Clayton, You get my PM? Bill Johnson fastforward 10-06-2005, 06:57 PM got it and sent one back. i do agree on the forgiving part.ive plowed the new wall up there a few times. Jason Lambert 10-07-2005, 05:48 AM I think te ice is a way better deal.. you somply hit it woth a little pledge when you first put it down, adn then again before racing starts.. people learn real quick to stay off it, but if you do hit it, it doesn't send you flying into another car, the wall, etc. The new maximus setup did one thing.. cause alot more people to break stuff LOL. That wall is harsh, no just touching that, you either hit it, or you don't And if you hit the solid part, oh boy, you are breaking something. Smyka I think that the velcro will work fine, and a single PVC down the middle should be fine, enough to stop someone from crossing the infield, that's all you really need, have it go between the poles, probably about the middle anyway isn't it? Mike.. the stock is slow I agree... but running only one class was getting too boring, and being that there's no mod anywhere anymore really, the stock was the only other choice. I don't know if I wanna start the whole mod thing again anyway.. whatever motor we end up running at madness isn't gonna work anywhere else really, and new packs all the time for weekly racing seems a bit much, I kind of liked getting a 1/2 dozen good ones last year and being done with it, the cost of racing got whacked in half when we stopped running mod... let me have alot more $$ to put into the transam, which has proven to be as much or more fun then the mod racing was anyway. Ever been in a car that goes 0 to 60 in under 3 seconds? It's fun, trust me. Sorry I won't be there this weekend, next weekend I"m not sure either, we have some friends coming up from Florida and staying with us, so I don't know if I'll be able to go, but after that I plan on trying to make it on a regular basis. MIKE VALENTINE 10-07-2005, 09:39 AM jason i agree on the mod scene, it is more money, but alot more fun. I'm in for 19 turn, but will not run stock unless I'm forced too. Jason Lambert 10-07-2005, 09:46 AM I'll run 19 with ya as long as we have enough guys to do it. I still think that with a good crowd, stock could be fun.. smaller track should also make it more fun too. You think that mod racing is expensive, try doing it with a real car LOL. I gotta tel ya, I laugh when guys nag about the tire expense, and all that. they really have no clue what expensive is. Guys nag about spending 20 bucks for a day of brushes... try spending 3500 on a set of heads for a real car! I digress though. Plan for a weekly start next week.. I'll try to make it, but can make no promises. I gotta help my dad change the carb on the lawnmower, and then there's a party I'm supposed to go with with our florida guests and the wife... so the following week doesn't look good. The week after, should be a go. Be ready LOL. HECKLER 10-07-2005, 11:09 AM i am going to get the ice tonight and i will run pvc down the middle so no one hits the poles as for holding it down i will see what chris wants to do on that triple h werent you the one running on ice down at the birds and what 19 turn are we running ? just want to make sure i have one dave w 1 10-07-2005, 11:12 AM try supporting this 10 sec beast! She ran 10.6 in the quater @ Englishtown I had a ride with KennyBell at the time, about 650HP,man do I miss that car.... I know the local police dont:cool: Jason Lambert 10-07-2005, 11:53 AM Yes, guys that understand.... also guys that probably don't cry about what it costs to race a toy LOL. Ken, your old GTA, was it a back halved 4 link setup, or on stock suspension? If it was on stock ( style anyway ) suspension anything in the 8's is damn good. I'm playing with a 01 transam, with alot of rules that involve stock suspension mounting points, etc.etc. Good stuff, should be ready to go runa couple good ls1tech races next year, hopefully in bowling green, and at MIR. dave w 1 10-07-2005, 11:56 AM I JUST GOT DONE INSTALLING THE ALKY CONTROL ON MINE 93 OCTANE ON THE DYNO 685 AT REAR WHEELS 915 TORQUE 30 PSI ON THE STREET! Kenwood 10-07-2005, 11:58 AM Yes, guys that understand.... also guys that probably don't cry about what it costs to race a toy LOL. Its not OLD gta>>I mean its old because its a 1987...But I still have it..lol No 4 link.. Spohn suspension>>Just all upgraded stock style.. 90% spohn, 10% wolfe/racecraft..DOT slick, NO TUBS... Just some creative minisledge work.I run on VP-C16 PUF19 10-07-2005, 11:59 AM Dave SWEET! Jason Lambert 10-07-2005, 12:01 PM Dave, that's a nice car too. 10's should be where my car will be next year. I've done a best of 12.1 so far, with a 3670 raceweight, stock head/bottom ended ls1 car with the 6 speed, cam, and most of the bolton parts. I have a set of heavily worked ls6 castings sitting in my basement right now, they should be going on next month, hoping for about 475 rwhp when it's all said and done. Springtime holds a fully built hughes TH350 tranny, hal adj. shocks, 8 pt cage, kirkey alum seats and a few other goodies. that should be enough to get the car to low low 11's. My buddy's car, with a similar setup, but lsightly looser comverter ( 5000 as to the 4400 I plan to go to, and he was runnign 4.56's as I am runnign 4.10's ) was runnign between 10.70 to 11.1, depending on teh track and the weather. He made 430 with his head/cam package before he switched to the auto, I am already at 403 without the heads and the elec. water pump that is going on at the same time the heads do, so my hopes are pretty good. Should be good enough so that once I get the stuff all in the car and running, all that will be needed to dip into some decent mid to low 10's will be the weight reduction... and a whole slew of chromoly tubular parts, and some lightweight strange brakes will be getting the weight out. I'll still have the a/c in the car too LOL. Jason Lambert 10-07-2005, 12:10 PM Spohn stuff.. good stuff. I'm running their torque arm on my car, and their rear sway bar too. 30 psi on the street.. you guys are nutty. I figure by the time my stock bottom end is shot..the dart LS1 tall deck block will be out, and I can build a 460+ CI ls1 motor, shet manafold intake, go with the E.T. race style head, and probably make somewhere near 800 at the tires with VP race gas... or if I keep it a pump gas motor, somewhere well into the 600's. that's enough power to push a 4th f body car into the deep deep 9's. The shop I deal with jus ran 8.95 with a nitrous 383 motor... not the route I'm taking, I think m car's gonna be the shops all motor car when it's all said and done. There's a kid that works there that has a turbo ls1 car that is making 780 rwhp on pump gas.. and that's s 346 CI forged ls1. He's making some changes to the driveline, going th400 and a few other things. I know that the 80 mm turbo that he's running is coming out, I think a 91 was going in it's place or something, and I think a 408 CI iron block was gonna take the place of the little 346 too. He's also going to BS3 for engine management.. I think that 1000rwhp was what he was looking to get to thru the th400. Jason Lambert 10-07-2005, 12:11 PM Sorry about the old comment about the GTA by the way.. us ls1 4th gen guys call anything pre 1998 old LOL. dave w 1 10-07-2005, 12:18 PM 3720 Lbs With Me In It Ran 10.72 At 25 Lbs With The Ac On Lol!!! And Dont Forget Its A 6 Cylinder! Kenwood 10-07-2005, 12:19 PM LOL I did not take it that way>>I thought you meant OLD like OLD AS IN I SOLD IT...lol We are doing a T96 /Ls1 combo in my buddies car...On a Glide.. Im using a TH400 although because my car is a little heavy I may be going Glide myself... If you look at the pics I posted of the car youll see its JUST AS MUCH show as go...Ive got a full interior..NHRA cert cage to 7.50 >>Yet I still have back seats., stereo, air adjustable seats, etc etc.. LOL I dont run the spohn swaybar...I have to use a wolfe racecraft solid swaybar...to keep the car from twisting off the line.. Jason Lambert 10-07-2005, 12:20 PM I can't post the pic I have of the car on my work computer... says the file is too big. Sorry. Kenwood 10-07-2005, 12:22 PM Also I dont run 30+psi on the street>>For street driving what I do is Unhook the wastegate bootst controller(HKSPRO500) so that Im only working against spring pressure>>~15psi.. I have a seperate street driving tune that I load for pump gas and 15PSI... I dont do too much street driving...between a motorplate, tube k-member, full spool, solid bearing swaybar, etc the car does not lend it self to comfortable grocery getting...LOL Kenwood 10-07-2005, 12:24 PM I can't post the pic I have of the car on my work computer... says the file is too big. Sorry. Id modify it but im the same way>>>Those pics were not taken by me>>>LOL..I jumped on the net and found them where someone on the turbobuick site took pics ofmy car at trans am nationals.. Jason Lambert 10-07-2005, 12:26 PM Understood on teh swaybar, the shop race cars use that. I' personally took my rear seat out, as once the cage is in, it's too much a safety hazard for anyone to ever ride there, so out it came. My car's the same way though.. everythign is spotless, nothign hacked. There's a little probelm with the factory paint, as GM doesn't know how to paint a silver car, but I'll get the whole car repainted once it's done. I wanna get the car to somewhere in teh mid to low 10's if I can... then forge the bottom end., and add a 2 stage nitrous kit on it, change the converter and rear gear, and go make a glory pass and get booted for running too fast LOL I still wanna drive my car aorund some.. so it can't get too radical. At least try not to.. but you all know how that goes. I'll get around to building a race car or buy one, once the garage goes up at my house. The car that my shop has that ran the 8.95 will probably be for sale, I'll probably pick that up as it's pretty much all done and go thru it and make a few changes for my liking.. Jason Lambert 10-07-2005, 12:28 PM I'd do the same if I had any up anywhere on the net.. don't right now that I know of though. Kenwood 10-07-2005, 12:29 PM Make no mistake about it>>No one would/will/has EVER rode in my back seat since the cage install>> I kept the seat for show purposes...I tried to keep the car as stock looking as possible... My parachute detaches from the rear and a license plate covers it>>With the hood closed you cant see the engine, the turbo muffles some of the engiune so when idling it sound like about 400HP..LOL..when I drive on the street I use stock rims with drag radials on them..Its a total sleeper...I have 1 more thing needed to complete the sleeper look...Dark tint to hide the cage...LOL PUF19 10-07-2005, 12:31 PM ok guys, lets get this to another section, and let the Hyperdrive questions fly. Kenwood 10-07-2005, 12:35 PM Agreed < I apologize for the thread hijack.. :) Ill have more hyperdrive questions after tomorrow>>First race day for the PRO3... Jason Lambert 10-07-2005, 01:10 PM yeah, sorry. . I digress easily.. it's the ADD. HECKLER 10-07-2005, 08:54 PM yea ALL YOU GEAR HEAD why dont one of you answer my question about the 19 turn or do i have to take my big blue ram and run over you 10 sec street car or i have a better idear lets have a race the first we will do it for pinks but i get to pick time and date (first snow storm ahah) i know jason cant drive in the snow even with 4 wheel drive Bill Johnson 10-07-2005, 10:58 PM Smyka, any Arcor/ROAR Handwound will do. No Laydowns, No P-94's..I'm sure you could hit TP up for something. How Did you make out at Chris's.......... Bill Johnson HECKLER 10-08-2005, 04:25 PM the track is all done ice is down all i have to do is get some new pvc for the inside walls smoothie 10-08-2005, 11:09 PM So, I finally got a Pro 3 and started building it but I have some screws and ball studs missing. I am missing the two ball studs to mount the side shock to and the 4 FH screws for the battery slider tray. Anyone else missing these? Also, one more question, do we have to drill our own servo mounting holes in the chassis? If so, where? MURDOCKRC 10-08-2005, 11:23 PM Smothie: Drilling servo holes are not done at the factory because there are so many servo options and you wouldnt really want a brand new car with holes in it that you cant use or worse yet holes that intersect the holes you would need to use your servo of choice. First time out on flat carpet today was great with the new car to say the least. We put down two brand new cars, and the Pro 3 pulled off a TQ and win with my Dad rolling in 3rd about an inch off 2nd places bumper. Having had a very good idea of what the cars were going to be from testing them, I was very, very pleased with the final product. I thought all along this would be an excellent car and guys you just can go wrong with this thing. Great Job to all my Hyperdrive buddies and Hyperdrive for the efforts in this car Rob @ Murdock R/C vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2013, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
