Im currently building a pro 3 solid car for a buddy of mine.. Ive had to go out and get a 4-40 tap.. None of the holes on the alumnum are tapped deep enough.. all of the screws bottom out, before they are tight.. Im using all the proper screws in all the proper locations as well.. After i re tapped them they work good. has anyone else had this problem.. Its mainly with the pod plates, and th crossbrace.. the holes that mount to the grafite.. and on one of the caster blocks, the screw would not reach to the bottom holes..

Yep, problem will be fixed. I caught that a few weeks ago building some of my newer, production stuff. You just have to tap them like you did Mike and everything is fine.

yup i had the same problem in the same area. also, didnt have the right number of screws and the kit only came with like 2 nuts. had to go buy more. wasnt too upset though cuz i got spiffy red nuts :)

Hey Kenny is trying and will do it, make a cost controlled class for new racers.
We did it at the track I ran for 7 years and it worked great.
So lets try to help instead of hurt our Hobby. I'm sure a newbie doesn't want into a hobby that folks are griping about getting new folks into.
Being that Barry and Kenny have know each other for many years I'm sure that Barry knew Kenny was just playing around with him on the passy stmt.

Just goes to show you, some people are way to serious. If I posted I would give away 10 new RAPTORs....somebody would still find something to bark at.......

I would like to think me and Barry are so-called friends...... atleast he takes my money with a smile.... :)

SLIDER law man do ya know who this is?

dave w 1,
Try this

Front springs- 2 greens or a red and a green
Front arm position - RF 4th hole from top LF 3rd hole from top
Center shock - HPI 60wt. #2 piston
Shock position start in middle and work your way up depending on feel and lap times.
T-bar - .063 bias,H-drive spring springsteel,ORC soft/med soft springsteel have worked well
Offset position and offset pod. Some people have tried offset t-bar and cetered pod with success.
Side shocks - 30 wt with blue and gold or two gold springs might
Tires - RR White/Grey RF Black
LR White LF Grey or Black
Car really turns in well and reacts to changes so don't be afraid to try things.
This is somewhat of generic baseline set-up but has worked good for me in stock on flat tracks.
Dodge charger or Ford Taurus with 1/2" spoiler

I am wandering what most of you guys are using, the slider chassis or the solid? What are the main differences? Thanks.

burbs
09-21-2005, 11:17 PM
depends on the track.. generally sliders work well on flat carpet, and solids on banked asphalt and carpet..

MURDOCKRC
09-21-2005, 11:46 PM
All depends on your personal take smoothie. The slider is normally considered to be the more aggressive turning car over the solid chassis, but either can be very effective with the right set up.

SCOTT arm position from the top of block down you mean right? also im use to irs front end what keeps the arm from sliding back and forth i know the screws hold the pin in place but what abought shim placement?

What is the difference between the 2 cross braces for the slider and the solid? Part #s 7325 and 7326.

BA Motorsports
09-22-2005, 07:07 PM
The cross brace for the slider has a shorter left side mounting post because the battery tray mount slides under it to be mounted to the chassis plate.

I got a question about the 0700 Car. I noticed that the "power Pod" support tude hits the cross brace when i manually flex the pod. I dont know if it does that on the track but is there a way around it, or does it not even matter?????

THANKS BAR 26

It will, but put the car on a flat surface and push down on the center shock. The car will bottom out on the surface way before it will hit.

Bar26, your car will never travel that far under race conditions. I see a lot of guys grab the pod and crank it side to side and front to back. All your really doing is puting un needed stress on your t plate and springs. The cars just dont travel that far. Hope that helps.

Rob @ Murdock R/C

OK, What would you guys recommend as a starting set up for a HYPERDRIVE 0700, This is for a flat track, my guess is 120 foot run line ( carpet ) also once i do that what should i change to go to a 160 foot run line Banked track???? What should i have the castor and camber set at???

THANKS

I have also recently bought a Hyperdrive 0700, I am still undecided as to wether or not to go back to three shocks or just use one without a spring as a damper and use the t plate as the method of setting the tweak. It just seems that the three shock setup is more adjustable. I also have played with sliding the batteries forward and back and haven't decided on that either. I run stock at K&N (banked carpet 183 ft CL) I am told that a slider isn't stiff enough for stock. I guess all will be revealed in the coming weeks.

OK some questions on PRO3.. I see guys doing pretty well with it...I thumbed through the instructions and I find it as obscure as my custom works instructions when it comes to setups that differ from NEUTRAL... So see holes to move the pod in and out>>>i see holed to move the t-plate in and out..I see nothing in the instructions telling you about what you would need to change>>Say I wanted to run the t-plate offset but the pod on center... Do I use the same t-plate or is there a different one as with the CW car? I dont own the car just looking for a new ride In the pics it appears that you can use the same t-plate in either location and just slide the pod over.. I dont own one yet BUT Im looking to get a second car and the LHS carries all HD stuff...so I figured that may be my best bet for weekly racing.. Does the car come with different offset hubs for when you do move the rear around?? And is there anywhere on line where people post fast/successfull setups for say flat track slider car???
