I am running a hyperdrive pro 2 in a class that is 6 cell stock motor spec tires.
here is my setup
spec blue tires on front
spec green tires on rear
lf prog purple spring
rf green spring
blue rear springs
40 wt oil in side shocks
gold silva center shock spring
50 wt oil in center shock
small track with about 110' run
car handles great and is fast.
problem I am having is that I have t orun a ton of tweak in the car to keep it from spinning out. I run approximately 17oz on the LR and 4 oz on the RR. I have read on here that most people run a 1 oz difference. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Frank, when you ran the Pro 2 and 0700 what t-plate did you run? ( symetrical or "L" shape)

good job at the birds.

thanks

Hey Barry, I tried everything but the one that worked the best was the white symetrical 0.63 solid with no center screw. Also what made a big difference was running the real soft opaque side springs with 30wt oil. for the center I ran as soft as I could get it without bottoming out with 40wt. oil. The shocks seemed to play a big part in making the car turn. Having the front end adjusted properly was key to making the car smooth in the turns. And the only tire combo I ever liked on a flat track with the SSE was 3 pinks & a purple RF. O'yeah, It turned harder in the long wheelbase.

It's too bad the birds track changed so much towards the end of the weekend.

I run my 0700 on a 160 foot flat track and one lap off the record race. Any way I change the front end locator position the car can adjust to any and dont really feel a difference. Can someone tell me what they run there front end locator position on a 160 footflat track and how it makes a difference. Right now I am running RF out and LF out. thanz

I'd listen to Shadow, I built a brand new car last week with his set up on it and ran it at Marshall's saturday, the third run ever on the car was TQ in 19 turn. If I wasn't a bone head for the main I'd of gotten that too, but congrats to Eric on a great run. Bill B

SWT, see Shadow's set up, I built the car around his setup with a couple little differences, 40 wt in the center shock with number one piston, 30 wt in the side shocks, and the rear steer was with the 1/4 rear steer bottom plate, and a protoform high downforce Monte Carlo body, battery one slot up from the rear and all the way out, and I used a hyperdrive #2 graphite t plate, car was awesome, a dream to drive and fast

Steve Salvas,is there that much difference using caps and foams relating to set-up? I have tried both cars {P-2 and 0700} with the RF wide and left front in and it won't turn in a 40 acre field! I swap it over and it will about turn out from under me! This is on a fairly flat,250ft asphalt track running red lefts and green rts.,6c stock, hpi no. 1 50wt. Silva silver center,35wt. sides red rt sp. opaque wolfe left, red std. front springs, solid .063 45d tbar. Thoughts? Thanks DK.

DK47 - I've had the best luck with mine with the right front in and the left front in the middle. Ran it at the paved nats that way and on carpet.

Hi Danny, I never experienced much difference in running caps or foam, setup wise.

Moving in the RF and moving out the LF will definitely give you more steering in and out ...

on the sse pro 2 where would you put front end short tight carpet
i have read rf out lf in middle if you do this you would hve to trim inside rear tire to get lr out 3mm from lf correct?also would you run an offset on this this is for 4c stock. also would 3pinks and a purple work for tires

I'd go with RF middle and LF in ... and LR set 0-1mm out versus LF with 200mm rear track. Go with centered pod, it'll turn more than offset and you won't need to cut down the LR.

SWTZX2 I would run the RF locator in the middle and the LF locator in.(not all the way in) Im using wolfe front axles to tune the front a little more. For tires try a black rf, grey lf, and two whites. If the track is tight you may want to try a grey on the rr or two aquas. Three pinks and a purple shouldnt be needed if you are only running 19t or mod. Also I run my car offset so that the car wont be lose coming off the corner.

can anybody give suggestions on traction compound types brands and how long to leave on before wiping off

I use Jack the Gripper for my foams.
Put it on about 2-3 heats before you are up to race.
Wipe off with a rag when you got to set the car out on the track and scrub the tires in on the carpet. Same technique can be used with Paragon or TQ.

I have a question for the Hyperdrive team guys. Did hyperdrive make a team only version of the most recent 12th scale car? Cause some guy was trying to sell a brand new one only assembled, and buy it now was $300, i asked him why it was so much, when you can buy a brand new one from RC4less or Murdock for like $260, and he said it was different then the production model in that it had a longer wheelbase and adjustable front end, but that seems bogus since the production car has the adjuster plates too....thanks.
Oh, and he said he was a team driver and that's how he got the car.

Theres isn't a team only car. But if he was/is on the team, he may have one of the shorter chassis. Which wear the first prototypes, before they changed the whellbase rule from 8.75 to 9.25. The first test cars had only one wheelbase set of holes in the front, set to the old roar max wheelbase. but as far as having a team only kit NO.

you don't mind me asking were you saw this, if you don't want to post can you e-mail me msv3875@aol.com

im guessing this is the link.. it looks to me like a regular old kit.... the reason it doesnt have plates on it is cause he didnt put them on... some of the guys round here dont use the plates they just bolt the front end to the chassis.... if u expand the pic u can see the holes for the plates...

and if this is not the one.. whoops.. but yeah i saw the price to... kinda expensive

MIKE VALENTINE
03-22-2004, 12:47 PM
thats the standard 1/12. maybe the problem is how barry is naming the cars, team kits refer to having anodixed parts and a few upgrades, maybe thats what he ment by team kit.

Mike, where do you run your bottom front end locators? Thanks...............OUT!

MIKE VALENTINE
03-22-2004, 03:48 PM
Dougefresh it really depends on what class i'm running. if i run stock, which is rarely, i run them all the way out on right front or middle if i want more steering going into the turn, and the left in the middle or all the way in if i need more steerinf off the turn. in mod left side all the way in never really more it unless the track has vary low grip. right front all the way in or middle sdepending on entry speed and what right front tire i use purple middle and grey inside.

Mike Wilson
03-22-2004, 08:23 PM
Yeah I'd say thats high. I have one of the Red kits and only give 250 for it at the LHS. It doesnt even specify Team kit with the red parts. That is a very fun car to drive as well. Had them lining up at Sandhills one weekend to run it in practice with a 19T in it.

I know if i read all 55 pages i would find the answer to my question but i thought this would be quicker is there a starting measurement for the four cell battery tray to start at this is on a 0700 ease team edition but not the pro2 . I'm running stock class mostly flat track and didn't know if maybe i had the tray in the wrong location and would car handle weird.

Thanks Neil

I have a handling problem i need cleared up. When the car is tight into the corner and i move the RR out should i also move the LR in to keep the rear treadwidth the same? In other words do i pull a shim out of the LR and put it in the RR. Or do i just add a shim to the RR, essentially making the rear tread width wider.

Thanks

Bob Wright
04-03-2004, 12:36 PM
Baroose you should plan on going to thr Tri-clone on April 24 they're have a dash for cash to wrap up the indoor season. Also Dave J will be taking tire orders for the outdoor season

Mike removing a shim from the LR will make the car turn more from the center off.

Mike Wilson
04-03-2004, 12:46 PM
Bob so what your saying is that not only did i fix the tight in but also made it turn more center off, or did i even help the tight in stuation?

Bob Wright
04-03-2004, 05:15 PM
Mike, yes spacing the RR out will make the car turn in harder.
