To Mike Valentine. Ray from Marshalls hobbies, looking to get anew hyperdrive for the indoor season. My modified l-4has run just off record[not bad for an old man with a used car],but would like tobeat Hosie and the rest with a car they put down.
a little help with a starting setup for our track would be a big help. Especialy in wheel offsets and weight %. Also I have a couple of questions about rear steer. If you would help me out, you can e-mail me at: Raymond McCollum @ webty.net

Thanx Ray

Whats the difference between the 700ease and the sse pro2? Thinking about getting back into oval running 19t 4 cell at a flat track.

The 700 has a slider chassis and three wheelbase adjustments for the front. The SSE 2 is a one-piece chassis and has two front wheelbase adjustments. I believe thats about it between the two, but I will be corrected if I am wrong.

Yes Mike that is the only differences.

The Hyperdrive's ran good at the Nats this past weekend. We didnt win any of the classes overall but we still showed that the Hyperdrives WILL compete with the KSG car. All the Hyperdrive team did an excellent job of helping each other and getting each other fast. No holding back from anyone.

I know I am glad to see Hyperdrive guys at my local track. These things have so many adjustments it sometimes is a little overwhelming trying to get the setup just where it needs to be. Thanks again to the guys that go or have come to Chatham Raceway and helped out the newer guy, even though we raced in the same class. Awesome group of guys!

there are a few other small diff between the slider car and the solid chassis. the solid chassis, battery slots are closer the t-plate, allowing you to move the battery closer to the centerline of the car if needed on some banked tracks. also it's offers more area to place electronics around the chassis, since there's no extra piece of graphite bolted to the chassis for adjustment of the battery tray. i still prefer to run the slider chassis, each has benifits.

Mike Wilson

Would the slider chassis not be better for carpet where fine tuning the battery placement can be more minute or does personal preference play more into it than anything? I run a SSE Pro 2 outdoors and am looking to build up a 700 for the carpet.

MIKE VALENTINE
08-05-2003, 10:39 PM
i think personal preference is more to it then the adjustment. i can't really tell the difference only moving the cell less then 1/2 a cell width. so if you move it more then that you might a swell move it the whole cell width. there are some tracks where it shows up at the end of four minutes but other changes will create theh same effect. it's nice having both cars, more due to chassis flex is more important then battery movement between cars.

Mike Wilson

I see. So what the driver sees/feels from the controller will tell him which chassis is more perferable on which type of track? I may just build the 700 and try it on asphalt as well and see how it "feels" compared to my SSE 2.

No, feel has nothing to do with what chassis to run. The stop watch is the only thing that matters!!!!!!

Barry, or someone can you suggest which parts I would need to stock when I start selling the Hyperdrive cars? I have not carried the line before and will be selling a few this fall. I just need to know what parts to stock up on. I think the guys will all be running the 700 chssis. Reply here or e-mail me at jschoenr@conpoint.com
Thanks John Schoenauer

Thanx for the help Mike. Ther is a new 700 in front of me here on my work bench with all the extras. Plenty of time to build and tweak on it before the indoor season. Thanx again RAY

JSchoenauer the only parts that i have seen people break are front bumpers and nerf wings, the parts designed to break on a hard impact. but of course i have heard horor stories of people busting there whole car hitting walls at 60+.

ray any time. good luck and if you need any help you can e-mail me or call i'll send you my number if you want.

Barry,

Will we be able to get the new silva shocks anodized red for our team cars? If so, can we include the HPI center shock as well?

Barry Hill
08-30-2003, 05:05 PM
pepe, We will take a look at the silva shocks and if they are better and can get them at OEM price we will consider them. HPI will not even consider OEM to the small oval companies. I do not know why.

You should be able to get the silva shocks from IRS when they are ready.

thanks

JEFF,

I was thinking that was probably the case, but even at that red would look better than purple, the clicker shock just doesn't seem to be nearly as good as the HPI even with the HPI gut's in it.It's really just a Look thing but the car looks so out of balance with that purple.I think I'm going to just take the purple off and leave it silver.

Any recommendation's on the set -up,I always have trouble going into the cool - cold whether, the car seems to really slow down,I know it's sounds quirky but my theory is everything contract's and just doesn't work as well.

Why can't the hpi shock body be anodized?or is it they shouldn't be due to the coating or what? The reason i'm asking is that when all my stuff was done 1st of the year the shock bodies were in batch to be anodized.. when i built the shocks i saw and felt no difference and after many oil changes no apparent wear inside the shock body.
Thanks

yep they did.. been running them for 9 months..there are red and like i said no apparent wear internally..

actually the dye took better to bodys than the caps..

It's all in the allow. The better the grade (6061 or 7075) the better it will look. The worst is cast aluminum.

Milner's Anodizing in Rohnart Park Calif.
Like i said the shock bodies actually took better to the dye than the caps and the adjusters.. the bodies actually have a deep true red to them were as the caps and adusters have a lighter color almost pinkish hue..
All grades of aluminum respond differently to the dye.. also the finish on the aluminum before it;s dyed weather it's polished or scotch brited before the process..

the graphite t=plates work well on smooth tracks, don't seem to do well with bumps. also work vary well on banked tracks.

Hey guys looking for a setup for the SEPro2. Track is flat and short. Approximately 47' x 9' infield so I would guess runline is around 100-105' or so.
My first time in an SSE2 so bear with me.

I need everything, springs, oils, tires, locator positions, rear track width, T-plate. Any help is appreciated.
Body of choice there is Monti Carlo HD with no wing.

Will be running 19T - 0 degree.

My prior setup on the blue car is below got me around the track but was loose coming off the turns.

LF- Green tire, Red spring, 2 degree castor
RF-Black tire, Purple spring, 2 degrees castor
LR-White tire, Silver spring, 30 wt
RR-Green tire, Blue spring, 30 wt
Center - HPI #2 piston, 50 wt, Assoc silver spring.
T-plate - Blue bias fiberglass.
Pod- Straight up

Any help is appreciated,
Thanks
