Hello everyone,

I have a quick question about charging and discharging a new battery that I bought to use as a basher in my Tamiya CR-01 crawler. I've searched, but found nothing helpful.

I bought a generic 7.2v 4500 mAh Ni-Mh from ebay and want to know how I should charge it with my Tekin BC110L charger that charges from .5-10 amps?

The battery label says to charge at 1A, but I'm not sure exactly what this means.

Also, will it be safe to discharge this same battery using an Orion digital discharger?

Any help would be greatly appreciated because I would like to keep this new battery healthy.

start out by charging it at 4.5 amps, discharge round 25-30 to be safe if it is a generic pack, keep ur eye on the temp and u can judge from there, dont really want ur pack to go over 110 or so!!!

Being a new pack, you don't know how long it has been just sitting on a shelf. Best to charge at 3 to 4 amps, discharge at 20 to 30 for the first few cycles, then I bump up the charge amps to 5 or 6.(I charge all my NIMH packs at 6 amps) After about 3 good cycles, you should be good to go.

Deff a health tip for your batteries .
Go to walmart or petsmart .
Buy a sticker temperature gauge .
Works perfect for basicly any battery .
Or you can blow money on the pro equipment .

5 Amps is great for bashing. A good balance of run time and performance and battery life. The higher the charging amperage the higher the performance, but wears the battery out faster.
The lower the charge amperage, the Longer run times, but slighly less performance.
You can charge a NiMh up to 2X its capacity.. but with a cheap battery I would not suggest anything more then 5 amps.
Cycle your battery at about the amp draws it will see when you are running it.. Usually about 20 amps.
