grungerockjeepe 03-27-2009, 06:22 PM Where were these bidders when I bought a case of SIII's and sold all but the turquoise Boss and blue GT?

roadrner 03-27-2009, 06:35 PM Yeah, they seem to be on vacation when I used to put auctions online too.

T-Jet Racer 03-27-2009, 06:37 PM Please, don't go here. I think there is a lot of crap going on on the bay. These guys never show to my auctions.....

videojimmy 03-28-2009, 09:55 AM where are these suckers when I out my cars up on ebay?
Oh well, no one is forcing them to spend that much.
slotcarman12078 03-28-2009, 10:08 AM or, maybe not. Here's my guess on this auction and others by this seller.
He emails the top 2 bidders, and tells them he'll make it a matched set of mustangs if it hits a certain $$ amount. Then the two bid it up to that point, and then battle for the winning position. To the casual observer, they see one mustang selling for 45$. It gets posted here giving him free advertising, while we talk about it for a few days. It also bums out other sellers and discourages them from selling cause they just can't get the prices he gets. This is my best guess scenario for this auction at least. There is obviously more than the one car involved.. Or, he has a couple buddies bidding up stuff to get attention????
twolff 03-28-2009, 10:11 AM The pricing is so consistent that my brain says there are shillers involved, but how can you make money selling to your own shills? He's recently has 1st lap cars out of the package going for over $25, while other sellers haven't sold them for $14.95 /w BTN.
I've always thought that you had to make eBay buyers think they could get something for nothing as far as a starting price is concerned. I'm sledom that right about anything outside of my profession.

If the shill wins the buyer sends the second highest bidder a Second Chance Offer. I have been amazed at the number of Second Chance Offers I have gotten within a couple hours of an auction ending. I usually respond to that sort of offer by letting them know what I think of their scam.
resinmonger 03-28-2009, 12:02 PM Check out his whole list.

He has another yellow SIII Boss 302 at $9.99 with over 6 days to go. He has a turqoise Boss SIII at $11.49 now - again there are 6 days left. The auctions started at $.99!
One sort of unique thing about his sales are they all offer free shipping. Maybe the free shipping loosens up the spending on the item itself. The other thing he does is put in a s-load of pictures of each car and the pictures are well done. You know what it's going to be when you get it. While I don't discount the chance of cheatin, I really think he has hit on some good marketing strategies. Of course, the extra pictures and free shipping means he HAS to get a higher price to come out even with others who don't offer these things.
We could always look over the list, pick a few things some of us want, work out not to bid against each other and see what happens. The Hutt is willing to play if anyone else wants to.

Car-guy 03-28-2009, 02:07 PM This seller used to buy from me somewhat frequently and I always listed my auctions at
.99 to start, much better results than listing a "car" for 10-15 bucks. You'll get more using this method...at least it worked that way for me a few years ago.

That is exactly how my wife and mother-in-law got popped shilling on eBay. The next highest bidder reported the second chance offer. Both of them had all thier listings cancelled and got a 30 day vacation.
I still razz them about it on occasion.
