Anybody else use Lego with Lesneys???
A friend gave me a bag of early 1970s Lego, and a few weeks ago for the first time since the 1970s I used lego & I built up a house in the same design as my childhood Lego dream house.....aside from the red instead of blue roof and the fence it is very much the same as my mid 1970s house. When I first built the house c1974 my favourite cars to park under the car port were the no 7 Anglia and no 6 Mercedes 350SL
Here are yesterday´s recreation pix.........

Never had much use for legos cause there wern't no wheels on'em. ;)
I would often add Lesneys to my Aroura Thunder Jet slot car set ups though.
Way cool pix, SMS!

I did have rubber tyres with a yellow Lego truck & trailer c1970. In those days sci-fi TV series UFO was new on our screens and I used the truck Lego plus the house Lego to loosely construct a Skydiver & sub and also a Stingray with the wheels as motors and both would be launched down the stairs to smash into many small peices as they bounced off the carpet - what fun and no harm done as long as I missed the paintwork:hat:
The white Mercedes shown in the picture is a genuine factory error -with a dented hood casting malformation which actually looks like somebodies have had a romantic roll around on the hood- totally charming and nicer than my minter for this reason!

Its also a lot of fun to play with & reminds me that when I was 9-10-11 I used to dream about the home I would own and the cars I would drive.....i wasnt far out on my house but I totally failed to imagine that I would prefer the high driving position of vans & light trucks and that not being tempted to speed would become an issue on every single journey.....real life is often stranger and more colourful than fiction!
In my days of Lego houses and lollypop stick curbs there were certain cars from my approx 150 strong collection that I liked enough to want to own in 1:1 and having test driven a couple of those I am very pleased not to own any of the cars I favoured as a child with the exception of the wonderful Morris Mini which my mother owned and I learned to drive in.....
real life is often stranger then fiction...well said
