Heres an easy topic to get some conversation going. What did you convert to electric? What did you use? Ill start. I converted a Kyosho Inferno using the Novak conversion kit. My electrics are the Novak HV Pro 6.5 brushless system. My batts are (2) 2s 5000ma Trinity batteries. Havent run it yet, but cant wait!

You know what I did, but for the benefit of others:

First conversion was a GS Storm. I made the motor mount to hold the motor (Novak 6.5HV) in the center above the driveline and made battery trays to hold one pack on each side of the car. Pic here: http://s92437987.onlinehome.us/ebaypics/Misc/e-storm-1.jpg

Next was a Losi 8ight with an RC Product Designs motor mount and a custom battery tray (which I made) to hold two 2S hard case LiPos on the left side of the car. Powered by a Mamba Max and a Neu 1512 2.5D/F. Pic here: http://s92437987.onlinehome.us/ebaypics/Misc/8-2-batts-big.jpg

Then, the next one I'm going to try this season is a Tekno conversion on a Losi 8ight with a clutch and mechanical brakes.

I converted a duratrax raze about 2 years ago. first it had a novak 6.5 system with dual lipos on the mudguards.
now it has slowly been transformed with a mamba max esc, medusa 2000kv motor and single zippy 4s 5000 pack. i moved the center diff over like the losi and the battery sits flush on the chassis for great balance.
the buggy handles much better than most would think, in fact i recently let two of the fastest E 1/8 racers at washtenaw run it after the raceday was over. they both said that with minor adjustments they would feel confident they could compete at a high level with it. now i just need to regain some of my skills back so i can show how well it handles.

I have done a Losi 8Twith a RCPD kit and mm with a Neu 1515/1Y on 4s Polyquest 6000
and a Losi 8B with a RCPD kit and a mm then later a MMM and a Nue 1512/2.5d on 4s Polyquest 5000/6000 packs.

My latest is not a conversion but it is still 1/8th electric.
It is a Caster Fusion Pro with a MMM and a Neu 1512/2.5d on 4s using 2, 2s Maxamps 6500 packs.

badassrevo. Why did you choose a LOSI to convert? Did you run nitro previously? I know about ta man's history and reasoning since I race with him. Spikeit is my brother in law and we did our conversions together. So thats a no brainer. LOL

I chose the Losi because of the offset center diff. I had always ran Kyosho but bought the Losi just to run electric, then I picked up another one and ran it nitro.
An eventually got the 8T too. They are very balanced with a single pack, even the 4s 6000.

The 8 is definitely very well balanced with the offset diff. With my hardcase packs and my custom tray, the front wheel weights were the same within the resolution of my scales and the rear weights were within 1/2 ounce of each other.

I was thinking of converting my InfornoST truggy, but was worried about the weight. How long are the run times after the conversions?

I like nitro but need to get electric because of the noise.

With my Losi 8T Mamba Max, Neu 1515/1Y PolyQuest 4s 6000 geared at 13/46 I could run 15min all the time and 20min on a small track.

The Losi tray is a good fit for the D8, just trim off the ESC mount and bolt it in to the car using existing holes.

I'm going to the hobby stores in my area this weekend to see the Novak conv. kit. If not to expensive I'll go electric.

I once converted a robitronics mantis that I had left over. ran a feigao 10xl,quark80b,19/48 gearing,5s 8000mah...basically wasn't tuned for the track it was more of a how does it work kind of thing...I ran it on the track it had pretty good power, way too much brakes and I eventually sold it..next electric will be my caster buggy(not really a convert though)

I took a JAmmin X1-CR and had the one of a kind rc product designs conversion installed, along with the 1 hour oil change, and am so happy with it. I may need to sell it, cuz as cool as it is, the stock 2wd and b44 are more fun to run.
if anyone is interested...
