View Full Version : New Minichamps - Need Input
vadim 03-22-2009, 03:55 PM Hi Everyone,
Minichamps is coming out with 1/64 scale cars that I want to get to sell on my web site. (the retail price from minichamps is $12.50 on the regular cars and $16.50 on the racing ones) But I'm stuck which models will be more popular. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
Vadim

69Stang 03-22-2009, 04:45 PM Hey Vadim,
I won't be much help, as I only collect racing based replicas. But if you were to carry the Racing themed rides also just shown, then I would be a VERY good customer! I have been looking for an American based source for these upcoming releases.

Snow owl 03-22-2009, 05:22 PM I would most likely attempt to get the non-racing castings.
Atencio 03-22-2009, 06:34 PM I would prefer non-racing versions
vadim 03-22-2009, 06:54 PM I would prefer non-racing versions
But which models of non-racing you think are more popular?
Atencio 03-22-2009, 07:57 PM I think the 911 Porsches would be the most popular but I love those Alfa Romeos and Bentleys.
kneedeep56 03-22-2009, 09:29 PM I luv the racing stuff
I would buy a few street cars but they would be racers in street clothes :p
Looks like this line is going to be a hit
Hi Vadim,
This look fantastic! I already picked out 7 must haves for my collection - but my tastes are eclectic.
In general, I think the most sellable models will be the ones which are not widely available from other manufacturers. Since these are premium and, therefore premium-priced models, I'm guessing the target market will be hardcore collectors and those who really want a model of a specific car, but can't get it from other manufacturers. Some of the ones I think will do particulalry well:
- the racing Porsches, especially the 935's and 934's
- the green/black GT3 RS
- Aston Martin DBS
- Alfa Romeo 8C
The ones that will likely not sell:
- Cayenne
- Boxster
nosym1 03-23-2009, 01:21 PM Very interested. I collect street exotic /luxury cars
BuildTO 03-23-2009, 02:11 PM Not sure if I would buy 1:64 at those prices. Have to think about it. But if I did, I would go for the Bentley Brooklands and the Fiat 500.
DCPDGUY 03-23-2009, 02:42 PM The little Fiat 500 is cool but besides that the old school Porsches are cool too. I would pick up the Fiat but at the price would have to think hard.
nosym1 03-23-2009, 07:22 PM Your right the prices are high. The bentley brookland and the continental gt are my fav. Would also have to think hard before purchase
terry9911 03-24-2009, 02:40 PM No one can foretell the future or popularity of anything, but I can consult Tina "the all seeing eye" down the road if you want.
I like most of them, except for the Cayennes and boxsters.
I really like the Bentleys, I don't think any company released true 1/64 renditions.
I would be very interested to get them.
Thanks for sharing.
stretchdog 03-30-2009, 11:23 AM I definitley like the Bentleys All of them) especially the Brooklands. All of the Porches and the Alfas etc. Oh yeah, I almost forgot the Aston Martin and the SLR Convertible are sweet too!! Im pretty much for everything except the race cars.

I did order the cars.... did get all the Bentleys, and other ones. but only got 1 porsche which seemed to be most popular with everyone else. Also skipped the SLR (all versions). Every model that I bought for my web site also got for my own collection. :)
DaWeber 03-30-2009, 07:24 PM Great! It will be hard to be patient during the wait until th 4th quarter for the Brooklands Bentley car! Actaully, $12 is not exhorbitant. I paid about that much per car for some Kyoshos that I recently had shipped to me from Japan . Also Autoart charges about $16 for their Bugatti Veyron and $12 for their other new issues- so the Minichamps seem to fit right in costwise with like competitive models. We must remember these are not toys; but are realistic detailed collectibles!
kneedeep56 03-30-2009, 09:15 PM I agree with ^^^
I can't wait to see these up close and personal

Fast Eddie 03-31-2009, 11:19 AM As a racing diecast collector, I would get a few. But beware, at these prices, there won't be many of us who will buy. You could save me some shipping, as I have been buying Kyosho's in this scale from japan.

According to Minichamps they are expected in the 3rd and 4th. quarter, as soon as they get them I get them. I got all the Alfas, Bentleys, Green Porsche, Aston and the Fiat. For the racing ones besides the special orders that I had, for the web site in very few pieces one of the 935 and 934 porches. As I got them for myself too. :)

88th division 03-31-2009, 04:40 PM I liked all of the now racing models. But I will pass at that price. For 1/64th
scale they seem over priced.

Kotetsu 05-03-2009, 05:42 PM I'd buy all cars if they aren't so expensive. If they are under $10 then I'll buy every single one.
Quantum 05-07-2009, 01:43 PM I'd buy racing and non, but I'm kinda all Porsche'd out right now. I love Minichamps - have some stuff in 1/43 - but its pricey.
