Hey guys, I just ran across a cd of some pics I took of a Tjet chassis under a microscope. I was planning on doing an article on HOWORLD about 3 years ago that showed before and after pictures of a chassis. The idea was to get the extreme closeup pics of an NOS chassis that had only been cleaned up. After I documented the details I was going to give the chassis to my buddy Bob Niswander to tweak into a competative stock chassis. After he worked it over I was going to dissasemble the chassis and take the same pictures to see what happened to the chassis that made it faster. Unfortunately I was then laid off from the job I was at where I was using their microscope and thats where it ended. Anyway, to make a long story short (a little late I know), I found the before pics today and thought you all might want to see some of the pics. the problem I am having is with the limits we are allowed to upload. I noticed that alot of you can post seemingly an unlimited amount of pics and never hit the cap. What is the trick to getting the file sizes more managable to not use up our alloted electrons and lose detail. I am already trimming the photos and it's better but as it stands I'm coming close to maxing out. BTW: the chassis pics that aree most interesting aree the arm and the gears. It's amazing how they can seem so smooth until you see it through a scope. I was also amazed at the debris left over after I thought I had thoroughly cleaned the chassis. This is a sample of one of the pics.

There's a hard limit on pictures that are hosted from the HobbyTalk site. The work around is to host your pictures on another site and just have a reference to the other site in your posting. I'm sure other folks will jump in with some recommendations for picture hosting sites like PhotoBucket and others.

I thought about photobucket and will give it a try but alot of posters have tons of pics and some are huge to boot. This has to be way over the 5 mb limit. Am I missing something or are there just some posters that have different privilages? Keep in mind I'm not crying foul or whining about the terms, if everyone has the same limits then I would like to know what I can do to make my postings more efficient. Thanks in advance, Rob

Set yourself up with the photobucket account first. You can upload pictures there in multiple sizes. The 640 X 480 and the "large" are the ones I use. There is certain limits for links, and the large is about it. Any bigger and it messes up the whole page of the thread (you have to scroll sideways to see it and all posts after are affected).

I use 1024x768(17" monitor) an they are perfect size, not many people have anything less then a 17" monitor anymore. Off site linking don't have a limit. Ive blown the right side of some people monitor out on a few pics I posted of bigger sizes

here is a example of the size I use

OK, now that they are on the bucket, how do I get them to this thread? As you can tell I am computer illiterate.

Here is an example of what the Shopping Carts HTML looks like without the end ] on it. It you quoted this and added the ] to the end of this it would show up. You can quote my post here and see what I am talking about and then just hit back to get off of it....Hope this helps you out.

Just do what Goodwrenchintimidator stated in his post right before this one....cut and paste! Simple Simon
