As many of you know our Spec Class at Turn 4 has not had the turnouts that we were hoping for. With the end of season coming near I'd like to hear from our racers about this new class idea. I've talked to many at the track, Now i just like to hear feedback of the idea.

17.5/Novak Only
1cell/SMC Lipo
Novak, LRP, Tekin ESC
1/10th Scale Pancar
C.O.T. Pancar Body
Open Tire Choice(so beginners could run others old tires)
Open Gear Choice

Or Continue with what we have in Place with Running the SK's
We'd have to chenge the Battery Option to maybe allow 4600mah packs, Maybe have a track spec pack like other tracks do.

Mike I think having the spec class be a pancar or COT truck body is a better idea because of the full body and all the hits a new driver is going to take. A full body will mean less broken parts for a spec racer.

What did the current spec Sk racers say about the potential change? From there current class to an entirely different class?

T4 is def lacking a good turn out of "spec" racing from what I see, but what would really attrack more and different racers to your track rather than converting the current racers you have already now?

A true spec class would not allow a open tire rule even though it may allow these racers to use someone else used or old tires.

If your looking for a true spec class, tires, battery and motor, chassis to a few MFG's to keep cost and teching down if need be would be a spec class.

Yea fender bodies will or should help in the aid of down the straights crashing or lack of but crashes are gonna happen and on the banks if ya hit the wall they are a lot harder or sounding due to the banking.

Hate to say it but the cheapest way out would be legends, they even come with there own rules, no need to mess with it, I am sure the twins probably still have theres.

T4 Spec Classes?
Legends 17.5 1cell

Sk 17.5 1 cell

Pan Chassis 17.5 1 cell

Would a possibilaty be a 1/12 scale oval body COT if they have them and maybe a 3800 track spec pack with the currant sk chassis (skateboard) and currant triniy motor that way the drivers now in spec class don't have to buy all new stuff just minimal stuff to upgrade and still keep the idea of low buck racing . Just a thought. :)

Mike I was just looking at the McAllister site they do have a 1/12 scale COT body they also have a late model body witch might be cool oh and also keep the spac tire rule

What did the current spec Sk racers say about the potential change? From there current class to an entirely different class?--My decision to make this changed was based on the decision of our current spec drivers. Some of them are moving to a more popular brushless/lipo pancar class. And others are interested in upgraded with newer products.

T4 Spec Classes?
Legends 17.5 1cell--Would a brushless motor even fit between the frame rails?

Sk 17.5 1 cell--Not much for this idea

Pan Chassis 17.5 1 cell--That's what I'd like to do

In our Pancar COT class we have limted it to Novak only esc. Just keeps the new guy from buying every esc out there because the guy next to him is faster with brand y esc then his brand x esc. just an idea. It would be great to get classes that a few tracks would run same rules , another thought.

my thought would be a pancar cot or truck class with spec tires and spec motor from trinity 21 turn a spec 4 cell pack for either trinity or wind tunnel and a gear rule like the legends use with the 81 tooth spur and a couple of pinion choices to keep the cars at a good speed that they will be able to learn and are able to improve. or if you go brushless and lipo use the 17.5 with a 1 cell the speeds are the same at least that is what I have found anyway. Either way you can't go wrong. just a thought

I am not certain if the motor will fit in a legend, however they did run mabuchi motors that are of true 540 size and very close in length to a brushless motor, The only thing I would be concerned about would be the wires coming out the back of the can, I cant confirm that it would fit as I do not have a legends car.

I think it would be great to keep the SK spec class alive and NO its not for reasons of selling cars because I havent sold much if anything spec related to T4. There is a decent crowd of SK cars running "PRO" version chassis. What if you were to keep the current spec SK class and open up the chassis and allow them to run 17.5 1s lipo as there spec class?

I suggested the above for a couple reasons,

The so called "Pro" Sk racers can better help with setup if there running the same chassis which I know would make the spec racer feel good if there only off a 2-3laps from what the pro guys are doing.

The hobby shop would not have to keep anything in the case "special" because the "spec" equipment can be sold either as spec or to someone needing a 1 cell lipo or 17.5 motor for there pan car.

The current front ends and rear pods can be transfered to most if not all Pro Sk cars out there now thus saving the kids or spec racers money.

If the spec racers wants to move up in class, the pro class.. all they would need to do is change a motor and there in.

in some areas of the country racers dictate what is to be raced or pressured into running, and some places the owners dictate what is to be ran.

Good luck to you guys, I support ya regardless these are my thoughts and are not to be taken neg agaisnt you or your track.

That's a big 10-4 on the brushless / legend car deal. They fit with plenty of room to spare.

we've had some guys running the 17.5 motor in the legend all yr. and they seem to be competitive with the stock setup.

I'm getting closer to the final result for this new class. I'm looking at what i have compaired to what other tracks are running or going to be running. The Goal here is to have rules very close if not the same as other tracks to make it easier for our drivers to attend other tracks and others to attend our track.

As noted on the other thread, There's only one week left for this poll. One thing Iam taking into consideration is WHO is voting for what. I'm really still up in the air on what to do.

OK, Well my decision with details for the new class will come out After the Spring Sizzler. I have a few more people(Track owners/racers)to chat with before making things final. I hope that the new plans will help to invite new racers into Oval and keep things more cost effective for all interested.

The idea of keeping and updating your spec class is good. Going along with Ken K's comment previously about using a sk type chassis would be better for helping newbies, and ease of moving up. Lipo in the long run would be more cost effective for racers. I ran Legends for a few years with the tire, battery, gear and motor rule. It worked very well. Trying to get new people into rc is the tricky part. This weekend could have some potential for pulling in some new people if you can get them into the track to watch some racing and have a beginers package kinda formulated. Lot of race fan will be there, some with their kids.

They'll be open Sat. night. Put up a sign somewhere, pass out fliers about the enduro.Alot of people pass through the gate closest to T4 doors. The entry booths to the grand stands are right there also. Get people in there. It would be worth a try anyway.

You have some very good Valid ideas. That trust me we have tried. All last season we were outside every chance we had, the end result was Turn 4 Daycare. Parents bring kids to race, Kids end up in our building hanging out causing a ton of clean up after they leave. Not that it cant work, We just need a better plan of attack than we have tried.
