A while ago I had some kids come over to play with the track. 1 kid in particular wouldn't listen and afterwhile I pretty much decided that he's either not allowed to come back over or he can race from batch X of cars because he's so destructive. Of course batch X being the cars that if he breaks ... oh well, that's what they are there for. Well in the course of that day he cost me about $100 in cars between things he broke, need to be replaced, fixed, etc ... you get the idea.

I have an SRT chassis that he broke. Just the little plastic piece (nub ??) that sticks out to hold the pickup shoe snapped off so I now have a car with 1 pickup shoe. Does anyone make a replacement SRT chassis or have one for sale or something? As I said it's just the chassis and not the parts that are on the car that are broken.

Thanks for any help or ideas in advance.

Cheers,
Xence

Get a pin vise, drill where the tab was an replace with a metal pin(piano wire, stick pin,, etc) Also drill the other an pin it with a stick pin, The kid will never break another

Wait, so you want me to use a stick pin on the kid? I'm ok with this. LOL ... just kidding. Good stuff tim. I'll have to try that out. Kinda stinks to have those nice running chassis basically ruined because of one small piece. I left that one out so that people could race it because the SRT's stick to the track so well. Oh and the body is one of those jeff gordon things. Not my favorite body or anything so if it gets a few nicks in it I'm not really all that worried. When the same dumb kid wrecks both of my nice 1st gen. chaparrals though .... yeah I got a bit miffed. Stunk because I didn't realize they were messed up till way after the fact. Too late at that point. Live and learn. :)

The SRT and Turbo chassis are the same. You can buy replacement chassis, if pinning the shoes doesn't work out. Lucky bob has them listed.. Tomy Turbo/SRT parts (http://www.lucky-bobs-slot-cars.com/tomy-turbo-parts.html)

for pinning; , get some .020 piano wire or stick pins and a #76 bit (or thereabouts)

You know,I have had the same experience.
I started with a couple storms, thinking they would stick like glue. I then went with the srt's, g+, mt's and ended with tjets. I was trying to find one that the kids couldn't destroy. The tjets were far and away the best suited for this pack of car wreckers. They had a ball.
I save the rest for more seasoned racers.

thats funny, cause i dont let the kids near my tjets, and give em the magnet cars on 15 volts!

These weren't anything I cared about. When they left the track they weren't going at the speed of sound.
Before I realized that the tjets were easier for them, I would find srt cars stuck to the side of the riding mower.
If I lowered the voltage too much the heavy magnet cars didn't want to run great and with all four lanes driving differently I had trouble finding the "best" setting. The middle lanes running fine but inside/outside not so much.

One thing I quickly learned was to shut the track down when anybody does not respect it. Nothing is more annoying than somebody ragging your stuff just because its not theirs.

The breakage is not worth the courtesy to someone who does not care.

Should have made him corner marshall after he started being a little prick. Or just showed him the exit.

The pin idea is a good one.

I have had good luck in just using a small paper clip, get it red hot with a lighter and jamb it in the chassis where the nub used to be.
Now wait 20 seconds for the plastic to cool and cut off whatever length you want, Dremel it to take off the burrs and Wala! Jed's a Millionaire!

I take a sewing needle, hold one end with some pliers, hold the other end over a flame...
slide into plastic, let cool... snip needle off at desired size.

I've done this many times, it hasn't failed me yet.
Takes about 15 seconds.

Yeah, we used to super heat little finishing nails with a torch, and installed them into the chassis from across the room using a blow dart gun.
Got pretty good at it. Just don't breath in.

Yes, I've been up too long.
