We have a twice yearly monster indoor fleamarket, and here is my haul from the event. Now there were 3 pro toy dealers with stands present, and they all make more much more money from this event than at a toy swapmeet because there is less competition and instead of 400 visitors there is over 10,000.
The Lesney regular wheels blister with the Superfast Mercury is a rare find, and not cheap either at $30 but money well spent:)
These are my 37th & 38th G boxes so now I am well on the way to getting all 80 odd G boxes but not in any hurry.....these are not mint but the price was low.
I am very pleased with this lot, I have been blessed again:wave:
Lummox 03-15-2009, 08:40 PM You always come up with neato stuff!!!!
Always liked the #45 Corsair Lesney...that's a Corgi??? Love it!
I think I read they were crummy cars though, I should probably stick to scale versions, huh? :)

This Corsair is the Hong Kong made Mini Dinky -its a 2 door unlike the 4 door Lesney but the colours are almost the same......but this beats the Lesney hollow for quality but was more expensive back in 1969....
1:1 Corsairs had very skinny tyres and a rather narrow wheel track, and even the 2 litre V4 version wasnt fast for the 1960s.The funny body design with thick sides and a narrow roof didnt make it any more spacious inside than the Ford Cortina Mk1 & Mk2 (Lsney 25)which was its biggest competitor - with the Zephyr 4 & 6 (Lesney 33) and the baby Anglia (Lesney7). So the Corsair was aimed at a very small niche and wasnt a great sales success compared to other Ford UK cars and died in 1970 when the 1967-1971 Cortina Mk2 was deemed to cover the niche with the introduction of the 1600E & 1600GT versions
karl-e 03-16-2009, 12:09 PM As always nice stuff!
I got a few Mini Dinkys myself, they are really "second to none" in quality, and they are IMHO far better than their reputation when it comes to quality in the mazac.
The only reason why they was not succesfull in their time was the Hot Wheel craze that infested the whole diecast toy-markett
The Bond Bug looks unusual, I have only seen it in orange (I assume it's a Corgi)

I'm curious about the ladder on the Radio Rentals van, I'm guessing it is a reproduction white metal part or could it be an unlisted grey plastic ladder?
Nick.

Hi Nick,
that ladder is a white metal part I had spare waiting for a van like this, shame its not Lesney gray plastic;) There was one unlisted Lesney at the event, a 41b D type Jag fitted with fine 45 tread tyres, most certainly in fine original shape,no fake...shame the driver had lost his head but at just over £20 it was too expensive for me, and same guy had a playworn red hub 41b for £40 -in the approx 200 Lesneys this guy had there were no more gems except for the blister pack that I bought and show here. But he did me a good deal on the G boxes & Muira with 71 wrecker all for £12/$18!

I think all the costly opening parts on them, wonderful boxes and the price premium over Lesneys prevented them from grabbing enough kids pocket money to be a commercial success.I only have this Corsair to add to a Mercedes from childhood and a beater Mustang -these are even harder to find than redlines in Denmark.......
The Bond Bug is Corgi, only one run of 50,000 was in lime, which was the only other 1:1 factory colour alternative to standard orange. These fetch double price of orange ones on feebay
