I would like to know if the cars from the latest M2 Muscle release with the raised hoods can be diplayed with the hoods in the normal closed position.

Can the four poles be easily removed without damaging anything, and then can the hoods be set down on the cars to sit flush with the fenders in the regular closed position?

Thanks.

The posts can be removed. I think they are pressed fit. I grabbed the hood and yanked it off the body of the car. A couple of posts were stuck to the hood and a couple of posts remained in the engine compartment. I took a pair of pliers and twisted off the posts. No damage. The hood sits flush...but will fall off if you pick-up the car other than horizontal.

Can you reattach the posts? I just got mine today and wasn't as willing to yank on the hood.

I'd rather have hinges myself.:(

I did attempt to re-attach the pins back into the holes but I must be a lamer or it's harder than it looks. I'm sure it can be done though since the pins, hood nor body appeared damaged after the disassembly. I too prefer the hinged hood and it's a shame that some of the best Muscle Car paint colors were used on the 'Sky Hoods' ... IMHO. I think perhaps the Sky Hoods feature would have been more appropriate on 'custom painted' Muscle Cars...hummmmm

I think most people would agree. I beleive it would be a cool and welcome feature on custom cars. However, they just don't belong on stock versions.

I don't see the point of the hood posts...seems like a lame gimmick.

Yep! I completely agree. I love the car, but the hood is just a complete pain, I may be figuring out how to make a hinge for the hood sometime in the future. They would make a lot more sense showing off a custom car, with a custom engine.

I posted this a while back when the sky hood line was first brought up, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to post it again;

I agree on the whole stock vs. custom debate. Neat idea though. Maybe replacing them with thinner tubing may help.

Thanks for all of the info, guys. As long as the cars can be displayed normally, I will most probably buy them, although I would greatly prefer conventionally hinged hoods.

The poles are just not for me, and I would never display any cars with their hoods jacked-up like that. (What is the point? If you want to show off the 1/1 engine just open the 1/1 hood.)

The only way for them to be displayed normally would be to sand down the mounts and then glue the hood on, otherwise it does not sit right and falls off very easy.

Couldn't you cut the pins shorter, to just stick out of the base holes a bit, and press the hood into place? The hood wouldn't fall off and you could pop the hood off to see underneath... just a thought...
