HI,

I'm new to the upstate SC area and would like to give oval racing a try.
I have played with RC cars for a few years now, but never really raced. I hear Carolina in Easley is the place to race around here. Their website seems pretty cool anyway.

I have recently bought a HD Pro 3 and am working on it. Based on what I read there is more to it than I thought there would be-to be competitive anyway. I was wondering if somebody out there could offer a few set-up tips (front end settings, springs, weights etc). The car I bought came with a 3200battery and I have a 21.5 motor on the way as well so I guess I will race in that class-if I am allowed to. I am highly competitive and can't stand to come out and be slow or in the way. So please help if you can. I sure appreciate it!!!

Depending on where you are, The Grove in Rock Hill has a large tri-oval that runs every Saturday all year and Friday/Saturday during the warm weather.

They offer 2 breakout classes (8-second truck and 7-second car) and we are currently working on finding the right non-breakout package to run more of an open format. Be it 21.5/2400 LiPo or 1-cell or whatever...it's still in development.

Alan, I would suggest that you go to HD product support page here on Hobbytalk, there should be a lot of help there.

Alan - Welcome to the area. We have a track forum located at www.carolinarc.com. I would recomend if you have limited experience thus far that you start out in the 21.5 sportsman class we offer. It uses everything you already have except the only battery allowed is the 2400mah lipo offered by orion. This is our entry level class, the battery is just 40 dollars and is super competitive. Come out to the track this weekend and take a look. Track owner donnie burnett can be found in the white trailer with carolina rc complex on it and i can be found in the white trailer next door to that. Come say hello. Drivers meeting is about 12:30 if you want to hear what we are about.
