Hi All:

J/L-A/W series cars seem to have two pinions. One is like a flower petal ( round shape )
and the other is like a Japanese star ( sharp edges ).

Which is better and for what conditions?

Thanks

Got a pic of the different pinion gears? I never noticed it.

Hi dlw:

Sorry, I do not have a digital camera. Grad a small amount and look at each one and you will soon see the difference.

Thanks

I grabbed about 10 of them and saw a difference from one side to the other, but they seemed pretty much the same to me. Perhaps some got broken in while others are less used?? Since they are plastic gears and are not exactly precise in the tolerance department they will wear differently. The bulk of mine get pulled from the git-go with no wear whatsoever so this may be the reason for my finding.

The rounded points on the gears is where the plastic
did not fully fill the mold.

Hi All:

The pinion gears I'm talking about is the brass pinion that is mounted to the armature above the top plate. Maybe my fault, not the pinion for the axle gear.
