Ok, So it seems the stock pickups on these two chassis is not the greatest thing since sliced bread... (Don't read me wrong here... I understand the Tyco Pro wipers work great when properly set up. but once tweaked....:freak: )
What kind of mods have you done to upgrade or replace them?
And please add pictures if you have them....

On the HP7s you can adjust the spring tension with the little metal wand under the shoes -- always worked for me but then again we race metal bodies on ovals with the HP7, so the pick-ups are nailed to the track anyway for the most part. Really that, and a little bending as needed to get a good stripe across the contact patch is all we ever really did.

Hey Cordoba,
When mounting the diecast bodies to the HP& chassis' , Do they stay put or roll off when crashing ?
Also is the crash enhanced when running diecast ?
I've never tried it but thought about it sevarl times.

Depends what you hit and how hard!
When we were cutting notches inside the body to mount the chassis, YES the bodies would occasionally pop off. I think with the silicone that will be reduced.
The crashes don't end up with cars sailing through the air as much as with plastic bodies. They tend to flop and roll like 1:1 cars when they stop too quickly. What IS nice is when you are racing door to door and you hear that little *tink* in the middle of the corner when someone's bumper bangs into the next guy's door. Very cool.

I have just bent the shoes on an HP-7 to get some improvement. The shoes can have a dramatic effect - more than I've seen in other chassis (though I am no expert). I've had HP-7s that ran terribly and I kept adjusting the shoes until I hit upon a good shape.
Be careful about the amount of spring tension. This can be increased or decreased by either bending the shoe or the little metal leaf spring under the shoe.

It certainly opens the door to a wide variety of bodies.
Also saves you the price of paint and decals.

Any of you guys try my mod where you razor off those little 'ridges' under the pickup springs? Gives you a LOT more flexibility when adjusting the spring tension.
