I Currently Use A Futaba 3pk Radio With Spektrum Module And Spektrum Receiver. I Have Got To Try Out The New Spektrum Radio And Loved How Light They Are But I Dont Know Enough About Them To Be Willing To Give Up A Radio That I Love... But I Was Just Looking On Horizon Hoobies At There Spektrum Radios And Noticed That There Are A Dx3r And A Dx3s. The Dx3s Has The Telemetry System Built In And It Comes With Two Receivers One With The Telemetry Built In And One Just Basic Receiver And Its Only $249.00 And Then The Dx3r Only Comes With 1 Receiver And Its $319.00.. I Guess What I Am Trying To Ask Is The Dx3r That Much Better Than The Dx3s That It Comes With Only One Receiver And Is Still $70.00 More.....

Dx3s is your sport racer/rtr radio. The dx3r is the real deal plus it's DSM2 (has a faster response time than any other spread spectrum or PPM system)

check there web site for more info http://www.spektrumrc.com/The

isn't it hard to type capitalizing every first letter doughboy ;-) just felt like saying something after all these months.. ahhaa.

ive see alot of the dx3r's and man are they light. it almost feel "toyish" with it being so light.. lighter than a traxxas TQ radio if you can believe that.
but everyone i know loves it.. and the menu system seems easy enough.

the biggest is that the S and the R is amount of models and the R has graphs. I think the R is a tad faster.. but really who can tell? i think its like 4 or 5 ms? millaseconds?but who really uses telemetry? and i think the r comes with the super small receiver too ;-) if you need telemetry later... you can add it on to the R.

i just "upgraded myself" to a 3pks super w/fasst.. after 8+ years on the M8... so i can't say go for it.. but damn.. if i had the cash now.. i probably would jump ;-)

I love the FIT, FEEL and FUNCTION of my 3pk's. I've been an exclusive FUTABA user for 24 years starting with the old BROWN BOX, Magnum Jr.s, Magnum Sr's, 2pds, I've still got most of those (but the brown box) the 1024 PCM's I've still got 4 of, and 2 of the 3pk's.

My 3pk's use the Spektrum rec. and module and I LOVE them too...but I've been looking at the Spektrum radio...it is cool, but I'm as much of a DIE HARD Futaba guy as I am a DIE HARD Ford fanatic.

One complaint alot of racers at our track on the DX3r is you cannot slow down the servo speed like you can with the 3pk. There's no steering or throttle exponential on the dx3r. Thats the biggest complaint i hear. Other than that i dont know anything about them.

oh and every so often you get a wierd "bind" loss :P which my fasst never experiences :P and it always seems to happen right when your heat is up.. and you have to rush and find the bind plug and take a min or so to bind up.

Check your manual on the DX3R it does have exponential on the steering and throttle.

Don't forget that neg is pos, and pos is neg on the dx3r though. Thats one thing I didn't like. I switched back to a 3pk after the birds.

When I compare them side by side, the S seems to do more things. Check out the video (http://www.spektrumrc.com/Articles/Article.aspx?ArticleID=1839). Very easy to use.

Both are great radios!

Oh, I guess there has been a small problem with binding loss (http://www.spektrumrc.com/Articles/Article.aspx?ArticleID=1784). :)

Only a small percentage of the first batch of 3Rs had the bind software issue.

As long as you don't pinch or cut the 3100 antenna you wont have any bind issue. The antenna is similar to coax cable - if it is folded over too tightly it gets damaged.

I have a year of racing with mine and no lost binds.
