i am a oval racer and i am not the best but i can hold my own so i do have plenty of experince racing in circles butsome of my friends i race oval with are going to run off road this weekend and one of them has a associated t4 2wd electric truck that i am going to throw down and race with them this weekend. so i am hoping that some of you guys that are a little more seasoned in the offroad side of this hobby can give me some pointers on the basic adjustments.... any and all help with this thread would be awsome....

One of the most important things in off-road is the correct tire.... you'll struggle without it. Next two in line would be the slipper adjustment if needed on a lower traction surface and I would put shock oil/springs as a good 3rd place. Best bet would be to start with the recommended T4 suspension setup from Associated and work from there. That tends to be a great starting point for any track.

Dont rush when passing. Wait for the right moment, then take the spot. Try to race clean, and dont retaliate if you get................well, you know. If theres a faster guy coming up on you, let him by before he takes you out. Give up the spot rather then get flipped on your lid and lose several. Chances are he will be upside down or nosed in to a wall sometime later and you'll get the spot back. If you can't make that triple, do a double / single. The point is, keep the tires on the track and not facing up. Every time you need a Marshalls assistance, it can cost you several seconds (plus) each time depending on the size of the track and the amount of Marshalls on the track. Walk the track before the races start. Find out where the holes and ruts are. Learn the track surface before you race. Take advantage of the practice session. Get as much track time as you can. Walk the pits and see what the other guys are doing as far as set ups. Watch some of the other guys during practice to see what lines they take. the regulars know the fastest way around the track. Ask questions. Most guys like myslef enjoy helping out others. Good luck and most of all, HAVE FUUUUUUUUUUUN!!!

Thanks Jerz Like I Said I Race Oval Almost Every Week So I Do Have Some Common Knowledge Of Driver Courtisey. But Your Right About Being Patient And Not Racing So Hard I Have A Problem With This In Oval.. In The Heat Of The Moment I Get Unfocused And It Usually Ends Up Costing Me Big Time....

You must have the weight in the rear of the T4 for it to handle properly. do this before you even try to run it.

One of the biggest mistakes most racers make in the dirt is putting TOO much power in their Truck or Buggy. The key to going fast in of-road is getting the power to the ground. The more the wheels spinn the less distance you travel. Start out with milder motor and add gear to it to go faster until you get the track down. Go with more motor once you are comfortable with the track and need a little more speed or power to clear a jump or other obstacle.Another helpful tip is learning SMOOTH finger control on the throttle,It took me a while going from Oval and Carpet racing to dirt to get a smooth finger to keep the wheels from spinning, once you get it you will be faster on both forms of racing
Hope some of my rambleing helps
