G_G 03-07-2009, 12:07 AM I think I've seen that before, hmmm... on World War II British Air Force planes (I think) Spitfires etc. Not sure what it is called. You are thinking of RAF Roundel: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:RAF_roundel.svg The colors are reversed - on the RAF Roundel, the blue is on the outside. On the Lotus, the red is on the outside. i am going to make decals for my lotus 11. i was wondering what the red, white and blue target insignia on it is called so i can google it and scan it. i tried and can't find it. thanks in advance. mj You can probably just create this with 3 circles in Microsoft Paint or even PowerPoint. kneedeep56 03-07-2009, 12:29 AM Thank You - I learned something new today :) citylights17@ho 03-07-2009, 12:50 AM i found it!! the roundel with the red outside is the french air force roundel. google is the bomb. this will keep me from having to fumble with ms paint. click resize and print. voila. thanks mj i learned something too. Atencio 03-07-2009, 01:24 AM Totally useless trivia. The French roundel is actually quite older than WW1. In the 1700's French revolutionaries added the blue-and-red cockade of Paris with the white cockade of the Ancien Régime producing the first Tricolore cockade. Cockades were circular ribbons worn on the tricorne hats of the period (Think 3 pointed revolution period hats). kneedeep56 03-07-2009, 01:28 AM Well with this info I can't help but think something is weird here. British car Team Lotus British racing green French roundel ??? anyone else think this is weird or am I weirder than I thought ? lol citylights17@ho 03-07-2009, 01:53 AM i thought so too........ but since i think around 270 (i think) of the cars were made many different people bought and raced them. maybe even some frenchies! i've seen other cars a ferrari comes right to mind with french insignias (flags)on it. found it louis feraud drove the ferrari 365 gtb with french insignias on it. so maybe.......... Atencio 03-07-2009, 02:14 AM I looked at the 1000 Miglia database and for the period 1955-1957 could only find English drivers for Lotus 11's. However the Lotus 11 won a ton of other races during that period so I guess there could have been a French driver. Lummox 03-07-2009, 09:55 PM Lotus 11's are wicked horny lookin'! Saw one race at Road America once...I think he wrecked the sumbitch!:cry: vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
