View Full Version : LRP SPX timing Tommygun43 03-05-2009, 01:46 AM was bored... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjjDHDQCYkQ (I know you're not supposed to do that) Turtletrax 03-05-2009, 04:12 AM Holy smokes batwing! havent heard that kind of squeal since I cornered Jay955 in the bathroom. Anybody compare this to a tekin? I have heard this may be "the flavor of the month"! Any tekin to spx guys wanna comment? Sorry Jay lol(your spx looks fast!!!) Turtletrax 03-05-2009, 04:31 AM Who has one in stock, pm me lol cant find it nm I found one on Ebay Tommygun43 03-05-2009, 12:21 PM Mine has run best on timing profile #1 in single cell/13.5. I don't think the SPX is the best esc for single cell racing. But it sounds cool on the bench. Turtletrax 03-05-2009, 12:24 PM Why dont you like it for one cell? Tommygun43 03-05-2009, 12:27 PM I think it has too much timing even on timing profile #1. I think you want all the torque you can get for single cell racing. Going to experiment some more with it though. Turtletrax 03-05-2009, 01:36 PM Ok so can someone tell me this, Im still a little green. If brand A you can dial in as much timing as you like and Brand B also has the capability to dump too much in, Is there any other things that would make a esc perform better than the other? Or is it just a brand battle now? casper60 03-05-2009, 01:39 PM They all do the same thing essentially. The biggest difference right now is with Tekin. Every time they upgrade the software, you can download it and have the new version instantly. LRP or Novak have to release an entirely new esc. The Tekin also has alot more adjustability built in than any of the other speedos. I was a die hard LRP guy until one of the Tekin guys let me try an RS. Now I have 2 of them. with plans of getting a 3rd very soon. kgb 03-06-2009, 09:58 PM what motor do you have in the car? Tommygun43 03-06-2009, 11:10 PM It's a novak 13.5 CClay1282 03-07-2009, 12:59 AM Its funny, we were dynoing a 21.5 motor on a turbodyno with an SPX speedo and when we put it on profile 8 it spun up to over 46000 RPM. That is crazy timing! By the way, that was at 8 volts. Tommygun43 03-07-2009, 01:51 AM CClay I'd be interested to know how many watts and torque you had compared to the other profiles. CClay1282 03-07-2009, 02:44 AM We didnt finish the dyno run because of the rpms that we saw! Didnt think it was a good idea. Turtletrax 03-07-2009, 06:56 AM My buddy says he runs profile 7 in 21.5. Are you guys for real? VA.RACER 03-07-2009, 02:09 PM 21.5, RUN profile 7 and drop about 5 teeth from LRP TC rollout. FLYING5 03-09-2009, 12:01 AM tommygun tq rules in low voltage classes.we run a 2400 orion lipo at my track with a 21.5 with this battery keeping the (tank full) is key running out the backdoor.the more rpm's you turn the more voltage you use it' takes lets say x amount of voltage per rev. the more you turn the more you use,on the other hand tq is only usable if the car is working real good otherwise it becomes overload for the gear ratio and lugs.i like tq over rpm's in low voltage deals, but think about this what rotor do you want to run?hmmm thats the secret to brushless. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
