Jingles wrote he was having problems with his paint adhering to a chrome plated Classic Dairy Delivery.
Granted the Chrome plated Classics are a bear to work with since the triple chrome, nickel, copper process makes them hard as steel.
Any filing and sanding to clean them up takes 10 times as much effort as that on regular Zamac.
Still, achieving satisfactory paint adhesion should be no big deal if the right products are used.
I've got a list of products coming up that are cheap to purchase but produce perfect results.
Not everyone here is going to use House Of Kolor paint as I do, although I have noticed an overwhelming wave of Customizers from ALL Internet Boards jumping on board the HOK system since I started posting the benefits over 4 years ago.
Now I see the same excitement over using home made Decals.
So, I'm offering alternate products for you to use which will produce the same results I get with House Of Kolor.
These are products which can be easily found and are inexpensive.
When you consider the high pigment content and richness of House Of Kolor and how much area a small amount covers, you become aware that painting Diecast with HOK can be done for only pennies a Custom, but that's a whole other Tutorial.
Here we go,
The chrome plate of Classics Diecast in itself should not be a problem to paint over.
File smooth your window openings and wheel wells and do your best to remove harsh ridges and casting seams.
Believe me, this chrome is hard but you can do it.
Now, either scuff your stripped Classic with #3 Steel Wool or 320 sandpaper.
Brush the casting with a small brass wire brush to remove debris and wash with soap and water.
Wipe dry and just before painting brush the casting off with a soft haired brush to remove lint and dust.
I always recommend the Cosmetic brushes that Women use to apply face powder. You can find them in any Dollar Store.
Here's the key for great adhesion,
Use this Primer,
ColorPlace Fast Dry Spray Paint #20010 in the 10 oz. aerosol can from the House Paint Dept in Walmart, cost 90 cents.
Remove the paint from the can (all or part) and thin 30-35% with Paint Thinner.
My methods here are written for those using an AirBrush.
All of my writeups are posted with the hopes that reading them will move you to purchasing an AirBrush and take your Customizing skills to the next strata.
If you choose to use the prescribed Primer in its Aerosol state you will still get good ahesion but most certainly will also get a thick, heavy, sandy layer of Primer.
I use both Enamel or Lacquer paints over this Primer.
If you are going to use Lacquer over this Primer then let the Primer dry very well.
Now a little Show & Tell,
Here's 4 Classic Drag Trucks created with the methods described above.
You never see Drag Trucks Customized but since the Dollar Store had these for a buck I picked up about 60.
Primer,
ShimrinWhite basecoat,
SnowWhite Pearl over Shimrin White,
Intercoat Clear for taping,
Lemon Yellow,
Intercoat Clear for taping,
Mixed Tangelo Pearl with a little Lemon Yellow and Yellow Pearl-Ex Powder,
All tape removed,
What kind of tape?? Tamiya Masking Tape, Of Course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All four castings are done the same way except in the case where LimeTime (green) Pearl was substituted for the mixed Tangelo Pearl.
The LimeTime Pearl also received some Yellow Pearl-Ex Powder to brighten it up even more.

One of these Drag Trucks will be the Best Custom prize for the Texas Trifecta II Dairy Delivery Shootout and one is being made for my German friend Sascha from HWCG along with a few other special HWCG pieces.
The other two Drag Trucks will be used for something else.

Pictures of the assembled cars coming by the weekend.
While the Pearl-Ex Powders mixed into the Orange and Green make these colors glow like Neon, the upcoming Clearcoat and Decals will surely bring them to life.
