lonwolpf 03-03-2009, 02:07 PM I am going to try and make three of them, Truck, or GN
FMurry8995 03-03-2009, 03:16 PM I'll be at all of them with a sprint car or two.
4-Cell Racer 03-03-2009, 05:21 PM Freddies for sure, Don't know about the others yet, Sportsman or GN
IN2RACIN 03-03-2009, 05:31 PM I don't think they run GN.
FMurry8995 03-03-2009, 08:14 PM I don't think they run GN.
Scott:
In the past few years we have not had enough entrys to run GN. If enough cars sign up for the class we will run it. Three cars will make a class. Note: A class will have to run at atleast three venues to qualify for awards. Points are not transferable from one class to another. That means that if you run twice in GN and then once or twice in sportsman you would NOT be eligable for awards.

cat5mfg 03-04-2009, 12:08 AM Is this a Tri-State or Quad-State series? Hmmm. Funny how things change for the better! It's nice to welcome Freddies to the series!
jeffdavis38 03-04-2009, 12:36 AM I'm going to try to make three. Ingalls, Freddie's, and MPR. We have a race the same weekend you guys run at Lancing. Spring and Truck and what ever Brent is running. LOL:thumbsup:Ok, who's racing where? and what class?

At the end of last years racing season the fate of Machesney Park Raceway was unknown. The property was for sale and nobody knew if the track would be there this year. As it turned out the new owner wants to keep the track operating. Prior to knowing the track would be in operation this year and at the last Tri stae race last year it was proposed and voted we include Freddies. It was suggested we include Freddies so that if Machesney went away we would still have three races. Yes, we have four races scheduled but you will only be scored on your top three races with one drop. Therefore its still the tri State series. Hope this explains things.

This is from the (2008 Dec.) QSAC Newsletter:
Tri state series 2009
This is the Eleventh year for the Tri-state series and again anticipation is for a
great series. For those of you that are not familiar with the series it has been a
three race series between three different tracks/venues. We race at Machesney
Park raceway in RockfordIllinois, Funtyme raceway in LansingMichigan and at
Ingalls motor speedway, Ingalls Indiana.
In 2009 year the Tri-State series is expanding to include Freddie’s asphalt oval in
RavennaOhio. This coming year we will have four races and only your best three
will be used for points scoring. The series is limited to these four tracks / clubs
but it is not limited to those who race at these tracks. The series is open to
anyone who wants to run against some of the best in the country. We always
have a great race where the most important element is the fun of racing and
being with people who enjoy the same thing you do-racing. ALL RACERS are
welcome!
We will be running Sprints, Sportsman, and limited Sportsman, also known as
busch, bombers or what ever you want to call a class for the beginners or those
with limited experience. As always we run QSAC rules and we run for plaques
only. No cash payoffs but we have always had some great give a ways. Thanks
to the sponsors that have contributed items for door prizes. What you say. Well
Pit Road Racing has given away bodies, wings decals. A Cut above has given
gears; QS Components has given away complete sets of rod ends/ heims and
also a new 230rc motor along with paying for the beautiful plaques.
In the coming year the eleventh for the series Quarter Scale Specialties will be
the core sponsor paying for the jackets given to the class champions. Other
sponsors are welcome to contribute. Contact me if you desire to help sponsor in
any way shape or form. Email Fmurry8995@aol.com or call 937-475-4016.
In 2007 we had 54 different racers in three classes, Grand National, Sportsman
and Sprint. The Largest class was Sportsman with 30 different entries at the
three tracks. Next was the Sprint class with nine different racers and we have
more coming in 09. The competition is always there, we have had some of the
best in the country in all of our classes. Brent Gottfried, Mark Aldridge, Roger
Newell, Scott Schramske, Mike Reniger, Randy Baker, Bob Elliott, the Hilber’s,
Jonny Pipchock, and others. I could fill the page with those that have raced with
us. It’s a class group of racers no matter how you look at it. You could, no, you
SHOULD be there if at all possible. Its great racing and FUN, FUN, FUN!!
Come join us in 2009. You will have a great time I promise. If you think that this
group is to fast or experienced for you to compete against, well think again.
Races like this are where you need to be. You will gain from the knowledge
transfer and ALLof these racers are willing to help you with your car and driving.
True there is nothing like track time and you should get as much as you can. Go
to your local or closest track and get track time but believe me I have learned
more by going to different tracks than you can imagine. It will make you a better
racer. Each of these tracks is different in size and shape. All are fun and
challenging to race on. All racing is done on Saturday and these tracks are
located close enough that you can drive there, race and drive back home in the
weekend. I always spend Saturday night close to the track and drive home on
Sunday. If you buddy up and travel together with someone then cost are split and
the bench racing during the travel there and back are really enlightening
experiences. I have bench raced with Randy Baker and others and you can really
dissect what happened over the course of events and you will be surprised at
what you will learn. I hope to see you at the races!
Fred Murry
Note to tracks:
I suggest that you make this double point’s race in your club or track series to
encourage your locals to race the event even if they do not plan to travel to the
other races. Set it up so that if your local guy is running in say sprints and he
finishes third in the main and he was the highest finishing local he would get first
place points for your local series. He would get third place points in the tri state
series. If your next local racer finished fifth but was the second highest local
finisher he would get second place local points. He would get fifth place points in
the tri state series.
If we have enough request to add Trucks or Grand National as a class let me
know. To be eligible for plaques or jackets the class must run at least three times
and have a minimum of five participants at each track.
Dates:
Race 1. May 02 Ingalls
Race 2. May 30 Freddie’s Hobbies & Raceway
Race 3 June 27 Lansing Mi.
Race 4 Aug. 29 MachesneyPark Raceway

Yes. I like the limited sportsman title. It is the class (novice busch, chargers or whatever your local track calls it) for those that are just starting or with Limited time with a 1/4 scale car. Sportsman rules apply to the class
Fred

LetsRace 03-06-2009, 03:32 PM Fred, im hoping to do at least 3 of the tri-states. holding my breath at the moment because work is so slow but thats the plan for now. could you give some insight on Lansing track. is it really smooth or would you say its bumpy. or just a bump in one
spot to watch for? looking forward to going and want to be alittle ready since by the time i get there there won't be much time for practice before the racing starts.
do you guys allow some practice on fridays before the shin dig on saturday?
thanks,
john

I try to get to all the tracks on Friday to get some hot laps in. Yes, you can practice on Friday. Lansing is fairly smooth but there are some areas that you better be on your toes. It is a "D" shaped track and fun to drive. Coming down the front staight is the only place you will encounter a wall as the rest of the track has no walls to hit. If you go off your just out in the Grass. Back stretch is a big sweeping curve with tight turns on both ends.
LetsRace 03-09-2009, 06:28 PM cool, thanks fred

IN2RACIN 03-11-2009, 03:57 PM Fred - Are the Tri-State races two heats or three? (this info. may have been posted already).
Main laps?
LetsRace 03-11-2009, 04:36 PM im going to take a wild guess and say two heats.
FMurry8995 03-11-2009, 11:48 PM Fred - Are the Tri-State races two heats or three? (this info. may have been posted already).
Main laps?
Two heat races per class.
Sprints are 35 lap heats.
Sportsman, Grand National and Trucks are 50 laps per class.
Limited sportsman or Busch or novice or whatever you want to call the entry level class. 35 lap heats
Mains are:
Sprints 75 laps.
Entry level class 100 laps.
Trucks, Can't recall for sure I think 150.
Grand national, Can't recall for sure I think 300.
Sportsman, can't recall for sure I think 200.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
Racenut53 03-12-2009, 10:12 AM At lansing last year, sportsman and truck was 150 laps, novice was 75 same as sprint. didn't run GN at any of them
Just my thought,
250 for GN
200 for trucks
150 for sportsman
100 for novice wouldn't be bad
75 for sprints (Too short)
Joey

IN2RACIN 05-04-2009, 06:54 PM Any results?.......Was there a GN class?
Also, is there anyone going to run GN @ Freddie's Tri-State on May 30th?

Only 3 GN cars at the first one. Brent thought the rain threat may have kept 3-4 more at home.
1. Brent
2. Jeff Davis
3. Gary Mouser
I think Fred said he would post full results soon.

jeffdavis38 06-01-2009, 12:06 PM How many of you guys are going to Lancing for the next Tri-state race?
We may be there.
lonwolpf 06-01-2009, 12:45 PM I am planning on going, Plus Bob T. Dan M. and Dick K.
FMurry8995 06-01-2009, 12:57 PM I will be there for sure. Lansing is a fun track to race on. Very challenging indeed. Its different from any track I have ever run on and thats been alot of them. Turn 4 and front stretch are the only places you have to deal with walls. The rest of the track has grass run off areas incase you miss the turns.
FMurry8995 06-01-2009, 01:00 PM It was great racing at Freddies track and now we move to Lansing. I hope to see evryone that was at Freddies at Lansing. We will have a great race I am sure. Great people to race with makes for great racing. Thanks Freddie for a great time and thanks to all that came and raced. Remember if you car pool it cost less. I'll do the points tonight and post them later tonight.

Big O 06-10-2009, 09:03 PM Camping at Lansing is very primitive. If you don't bring it with you, you don't have it. There is a porapotty and that is it. At the moment I don't know if I am going to stay Friday night or not. I am thinking that I might. But you will love the track.
