View Full Version : ***THE ROCK 2009*** april 5th
ericsalvas 03-03-2009, 08:23 AM www.grcsr.com (http://www.grcsr.com) is once again hosting 'the rock2009' race..
this will be a one day race event...onroad classes are in the mix as well...
oval classes is quite simple
LOSI LM 1/18(easy rules...look link below)
KASCAR will combine all these:
-4cell 27t(roar legal) 40oz
-4cell 17.5(roar legal) 41oz
-1cell lipo(4000mah max) 13.5(roar legal)36oz
testing been done...and all of the above are REAL close to each other on that fast banked track

registration info: http://grcsr.com/documents/Invitation_AN_12classique09.pdf
race info: http://grcsr.com/documents/Invitation_AN_12classique09.pdf
for hotel info...call 514-944-1308(and ask for gerry)
google map it! http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=fr&geocode=&q=361+Saint-Charles,+St-Roch-de-l'Achigan+J0K+3H0&sll=45.845603,-73.583336&sspn=0.0455,0.076904&g=361+rang+St-Charles,+St-Roch-de-l'Achigan+J0K+3H0&ie=UTF8&ll=45.641888,-73.672943&spn=0.730648,1.230469&z=10
MikeNum8 03-03-2009, 10:31 AM no 12th scale?
ovalmaster 03-03-2009, 10:40 AM I see that there is no 1/12 scale or Super Series this year, was this an oversight? I would like these classes back. It would also give the racers a chance to race 2 classes (or more).
I cannot understand that such a large race does not offer any variety? Also, I am sure that the racers from Plattsburgh would love to race their COT (spec cars with spec tires, batts, rules, etc.) on the banks of the Rock. I can muster up at least 10 cars in this class.
Come on, lets open up some more classes before people find somewhere else to go that weekend.
If you want racers to travel to this race, we need more classes!!!
Antonio
ovalmaster 03-03-2009, 10:41 AM Mike, I am sure that the lack of 1/12 scale was an over sight.
ericsalvas 03-03-2009, 10:51 AM i'm only the messenger...for any further info...contact 514-944-1308
BUT
i'm quite sure if interest shows up...a class or two can be added ...as long as there is more than 5 racers...but these classes, iguess, would be unofficial classes
Tony...you know who to talk to!...we're still a month away!
Eric
Butters16 03-03-2009, 10:53 AM I would assume since they are running onroad and oval the same day they cut some classes for time limits.
ericsalvas 03-03-2009, 11:13 AM yeah...and again....it is fun to have...like in the old days...one class...with MANY racers....not 5 classes of 10 racers...lets race a class where you have a J main!
eric
MikeNum8 03-03-2009, 11:40 AM I would love to have a ton of racers in one class. But the problem come that is it worth the $400 it will cost for the weekend with hotel and Gas and dealin with crossing the border for one class. NO. 2 or 3 classes Yes by all means. Antonio drop me an email
ovalmaster 03-03-2009, 11:42 AM Mike, let me get more info on this race and its classes and I'll get back to you.
I agree with you, if they want more travellers to attend, they will have to open up more classes.
Antonio
johnnywhopper 03-04-2009, 03:19 PM if i can run 10th oval and 12th road...i'll be there.
John
ericsalvas 03-05-2009, 03:17 AM nothing confirmed yet..but other oval classes(12th or spec) may be added...still waiting to hearback from race promoters
Eric
johnnywhopper 03-05-2009, 10:53 AM awesome. :woohoo: that'd be even better if i could run 12th road and oval, but i figured beggers can't be choosers and if i got to run 12th road, i'd be happy to bring a 10th oval car.
please let us know if you hear anything about the possibility of 12th road being added.
I know there's 2-3 other guys from here that would come with me also.
thanks,
John Firsching
ericsalvas 03-05-2009, 11:08 AM hey John...i'll let the promoters know asap...i don't think it'll be a problem...
Eric
ps...the onroad track is a fast close fun circuit
johnnywhopper 03-05-2009, 11:34 AM thanks Eric. i watched the video's on the website, and the track looks awesome. I've never run on anything like that before (banked road course) and i can't wait to try it.
John
ericsalvas 03-05-2009, 02:30 PM the place is simply cool...a true race place!
Eric
MikeNum8 03-05-2009, 02:41 PM Hopefully more classes for oval get added.
Outlaw 44 03-05-2009, 08:22 PM I assume the track will be open for practice on saturday?
EDIT, duh I shoul've followed the links on the 1st post.
louisrene 03-06-2009, 10:26 PM Good news for all 1/12th fans :
The Rock 2009 will open 1/12th classes for both road course and oval, these new classes will be unoficial, but surely racers will have more fun racing in more than one class.
Louis René.
ericsalvas 03-06-2009, 11:00 PM good call Louis-René..
Eric
I was hopeing to come but my daughter is getting marred on the 4th .I would have to leave around 10pm on the 4th. Is the track open all night?
johnnywhopper 03-07-2009, 12:19 PM Good news for all 1/12th fans :
The Rock 2009 will open 1/12th classes for both road course and oval, these new classes will be unoficial, but surely racers will have more fun racing in more than one class.

Outlaw 44 03-11-2009, 10:42 PM what are the rules for 1/12th scale?
ericsalvas 03-12-2009, 06:42 AM louis -rene is having the last call...but i would suggest 4cell 17.5 or 1 cell 13.5(both combine)...oval and onroad
Eric
MikeNum8 03-12-2009, 09:10 AM 4 cell 13.5 is good. Just like 19 turn
ericsalvas 03-12-2009, 01:35 PM mike...1/12th 4cell 17.5 is plenty fast...on that FAST banked oval...with 1/10th we're turning 3.7's...so i guess 1/12 should be as fast...especially for 1/12th...that would makes good close racing for those casr
Eric
tony D could confirm about these...as he ran that setup before
johnnywhopper 03-13-2009, 12:36 PM i noticed in the videos that none of the 10th cars have wings on them. are they not allowed, or do people just like the handling better without them?
thanks.
and btw, 17.5 is plenty fast in 12th. loads of fun.
John
Outlaw 44 03-13-2009, 01:56 PM the wings aren't allowed, and they're not needed.
Outlaw 44 03-13-2009, 01:57 PM Like RacingJason would say, wings are for airplanes and maxipads lol
johnnywhopper 03-13-2009, 02:02 PM lol, thanks. i agree, just checking though.
CharlyGratts 03-17-2009, 11:48 PM im in for 1/12 on-road and 1 cell 13.5 oval
louisrene 03-18-2009, 11:20 PM Sorry for the delays, I'll get use to check the forum more often..
The rules for the 1/12 will be simple as Eric suggest,
4cell 17.5 or 1 cell 13.5(both combine)...oval and onroad, weight 910 gr or 26oz. should do it.
Louis René.
louisrene 03-19-2009, 10:55 PM The weight for 1/12: 910gr is actually 32oz, my mistake!
Louis René.
Steve_B 03-24-2009, 07:53 PM should be a great race!
louisrene 03-25-2009, 08:47 PM Eleven days before the Rock 2009,
Get in the party… were are those 1/12?
Drivers already confirm for the Rock:

Louis René.
ericsalvas 03-26-2009, 06:47 PM HEY USA RACERS....crossing the border is STILL an easy job...the only thing needed is a photo id...it will change next june..as a valid passort will be mandatory...so here's your chance to go by easy....!
there will be somethin like 35+KASCAR's...should be a great event...when i ran my 1cell 13.5 last week...i almost improve the track record(0.5 behind the 4cell 17.5 track record)...and the track was kinda slow to what it was when it was set(in november)...
would be nice to rub fenders against some NY invaders!
Eric
to register...simply call Gerry(514-944-1308)...or send an e-mail ( grcsr@hotmail.com )
