I think it's a commercial.
For chocolate.
Or floor wax...
or feminine deodorant spray...
or something...
Isn't it marvelous to see something and know you never, ever would have thought of it? That's how I felt about seeing this - very creative.

Why would you want to throw your... eye... ball at someone? Doesn't seem to be the smartest weapon you could use.

Well, he don't appear to have much of a brainpan.

True, but you'd think he'd try punching or kicking before throwing his eyeball at people.

Just to put you at ease, the eyeball stalk is attached to the creatures belly. I admit that it doesn't look that way in most scenes but there are a couple of shots that show it more clearly. Creeped me out at first too...

I was laughing so hard at the eyeball creature, I almost fell out of my chair.
I've never been able to make heads or tails of Japanese videos, but the still find most amusing.
Scary, but fun.

I watched it, and I must say it is supposed to be this documentary of this guy who is the last protector of Japan (who is kind of a chicken). It is a comedy. I liked it, but I'll need to watch it a couple more times to get it all. I recommend it!

Watched it. Carefully. It was charming like a Christopher Guest movie. But with Japanese B movie monsters.

Charming might be code for boring. I'm not sure. I chuckled 3 times, but I'm not sure if they were the right times.

Fascinating view into the Japanese psyche. It might be unfortunate that it was through the mind of a comedian.

Available on Netfrix "watch instantly" if you care to stream it.

I almost rented it at the local Hollywood Video store, but I got to thinking that it probably wouldn't be as interesting as the few clips of it I have seen. Now I don't know if I should see it or not.

oh see it. its great, if you "get it"
for those who are totally confused, it is a comedy mockumentary.

first off you have to buy into the concept: for about a century (5 generations) there has been a man, able to grow to enormous size, in place to defend japan from kaiju (giant monsters like godzilla). this responsibility has been passed down from father to son over these generations.

this brings us to the modern day, with the latest "big man", who we see as a documentary crew follows him around for a few months.

the comedy comes from the fact that he doesnt really want the job, and consequentially isnt very good at it, making him extremely unpopular.

if you go into the movie with an open mind, and suspend your disbelief enough to buy into the basic premise, its very funny. some of the "day in the normal life" stuff can seem boring, but read the subtitles, and read between the lines. thats wehre much of the humor lays. and the monster designs are downright wild!!!!!!

That's a good assessment.

The translators also try diligently to portray sight gags in subtitles, but I think many are lost in translation or not translated at all. A lot of the humor is cultural, and wasted on barbaric Westerners. The monsters are lovingly portrayed, although don't bother if you expect to see Godzilla or Mothra. However their spirit is present. And they talk. Also if you ever wondered about the mating rituals and reproduction of monsters, Big Man goes a long way to show this.

It's a mixed bag. There's a lot of nipple humor.

I wonder if the "Devil Monster" represented Western Culture because the movie said he was a monster of unknown origin. Also did the Devil beat him? kind of confusing.
