I'm thinking of getting back into RC monster trucks after being away from RC for over almost 10 years. I went to the hobby shop today looking around and the Traxxas Stampede VXL caught my eye. Are these good trucks for some good back yard, local rock quarry bashing? A local hobby shop is also looking into building a RC race way that will inccorpate all sorts of RC fun including Monser trucks. This may a good way for me and my boy to spend some good times together as we both love motor sports and he is only 4. He will NOT be driving it BTW.. :freak:
Are these trucks worth getting? Anyone here own one? What do yo think?

I have to say I never liked the Stampede, It just never thrilled me. Then last year my LHS hosted a New Years Eve race / party, We ran Stampedes with jumps on a short carpet track. After the first race I had to have one ann went out an bought one right that night so I could race with them. Ever since then it has taken a beating, an is still running. I did replace the a-arms,caster, and steering blocks, and the front bumper to the wide RPM parts, with these up grades you could put the truck in "kiddie" mode and let the little guy have some fun. Gaurentee you will be getting 2 of them so you both can bash, I know a friend of mine has gotten one for his kids, an has talked about the fun or running with his sons.

Either that, or get the Slash. They are mechanically identical......other than bumpers and nerf bars, and the Slash still runs a brushed motor.....Less than $200 on Tower....

Thanks for the responces guys.
I took the plung and I decided to go nitro instead with a Team Associated MGT 3.0.
The last car I had was a Kyosho Nostagic series Nitro Daytona Coupe and I liked Nitro over the electric, it was just more fun.

thats what i thought at first, i got into electric, had electric brushless emaxx, rustler, rc10t4, rc10t3, sportworks raven, then i thought nitro was cool, so i got a cen gst 7.7, a robitronic mantis, kyosho inferno strr, then i started selling electric stuff, then found winter was long here up north michigan, and needed a pass time. after selling my emaxx and t4 and t3, i wanted to kick myself, so then i had to find electric cars to race inside, so now i have all the same cars i had to begin with without the emaxx. atleast i have somthing to do in winter again, thanks to matt at n.m.r.c.c in gaylord and casey in st. ignance michigan. they run the indoor tracks here in the winter. so that said get one of each, a nitro and a electric. mike

I believe all the trucks made by traxxas are tough. I've had my rustler for awhile now and it's still running like champ.
