View Full Version : Track size?
Denny Andrews 02-26-2009, 12:17 AM What is a good "Run Line" length for a track? What is yours? I found a Quarter Midget track out here that says it's a 1/10th mile. I'm guessing that would be about a 528' length...(5280'=1 mile) not sure if that is the run line, inside line, or outside... just curious what the lengths out there are.... Thanks for whatever input you can give...
RACING HARD 02-26-2009, 12:23 AM I think jandm raceway is around 500 feet. not real sure. It the biggest one I have been on.
GILYHANTREE 02-26-2009, 12:33 AM 340 to 375
whoop27 02-26-2009, 12:58 AM 1/10 is what arena cars run on its a good size track watch the video at arenaracingusa.com
Sonny B 02-26-2009, 02:45 AM In general most quarter midget tracks are about the right size for good ¼ scale racing. Just depend on if the inner and outer barriers can be made ¼ scale friendly.
Denny Andrews 02-26-2009, 11:06 AM This place is brand new. It looks like it has soft barriers already, huge pit lane, high banks... looks awesome in the pics... going out there to physically see it this weekend... never know, could end up being a NCS district race in the future... We will see....

Shaffer's Dirt oval has a run line of (about) 600 feet. That is pretty big for 1/4 scale. I think Freddie's has a 425 run line.
The question is how wide is this new track? The wider the better.

Denny, It is a 1/20th not 1/10th and you could run 4 or 5 wide if you had to! I was told we were running about 5.0 laps
I'm back on qtr scale again, this time it has bitten pretty hard, I have almost finished my own track, and when I saw this post I went out and measured my dirveline, it currently is 325', turns are 30' wide the straights are 20' for right now. Think I will widen them before it is all done. So now my question is,still being "green" at this what would be a good gear ratio to start with for my sprinter.
thanks
