Suddenly it occurred to me that if anyone knew, it would be someone here: what happened to the 8' Seaview miniature? Last I know of it, in the 70's it appeared in some Wonder Woman episodes (???), and in the late 70s it was chopped up and reused in The Return of Captain Nemo. So it was still at least partly in existence (a photo in a fan mag shows most of the main hull and the complete deck and sail survived Nemo) to almost 1980. What happened to it after that? Someone must have it.

Hi, Yep i wondered what happened to the modified remains of the 8 seaview.I looked for info about it on the net for a long time,But notta. I do know the front end of the model that the prop guys cut off while making the modifications for Nemo is still around,In the hands of a private collector. But the rest of the model has probably been trashed years ago:cry:You can see pix of the front clip of the 8 Seaview as it looks now on the cloudsters site:dude:

There are photos of the modified 8-footer in Starlog I believe in an Irwin Allen interview so it must have stayed with him for at least a while. It is a mystery and the fact that the sub as modified would be difficult for the layman to ID as the Seaview doesn't help...

This outrageously poor quality photo is the only one I've seen of it in post-Nemo days. Somewhere out there I'm sure there are tons of pictures of the 8', and I'd be willing to bet that the remains in the picture still exist somewhere, too. All the 1980's pre-Internet fans and collectors seem to have vanished. I've seen very few of the old photos from the old fan mags reproduced on-line. Who's got them???

That's the photo from the Starlog issue--it's in color in the magazine I believe.

That pic isin't really representetive of the model as it appeared in Nemo. In fact, from my copy of the film there seems to have been very little of the Seaview left once the conversion was complete. Unfortunately.

This much I know,
Fred Barr owned the nose for a time, then I had it as we were going to mold it to finish the rest of the sub. I ended up giving it back to Fred who later sold it to pay bills
