My first AFX set did not include a track tool nor track clips. My second set did.

When did the track tool and track clips make their debut?

so somewhere around 1973, but it's just a guess.

1973 was my guess as well.

I wonder what it was like when Aurora learned that this new track was so prone to break! They must have scurried to find a fix.

The track tool did help. And, if you study AFX track from 1971 onward you see small improvements attempting to put less stress on the tabs.

In my mind, the original AFX track looks the best of any when joined. Its a shame the Aurora engineers so greatly underdesigned the tabs.

Anyone remember the AFX four way ones that had a test light in it? I still have one floating around in a Pit Kit somewhere.

I've still got one that works. And a stack of the Quickee lock tools. And more track than I will ever need. Maybe I'll even set up a track one of these days.
