I currently have a Novak XBR speedo. I am looking at getting a new speedo. I have currently narrowed it down to the Tekin RS and the Speed Passion GT Comp LPF v2.0. I was wondering if anyone has tried the Speed Passion for oval racing and what your thoughts are. We all know how good the Tekin is in oval racing, but I have not seen much on the Speed Passion other than TC racing. Thanks for your input. :)

I've been running it in 17.5 4-cell, I like it, just as fast as a tekin, lrp, novak. Plus it is very easy to program while in-car at the track, no lap-top needed.... Kevin

I've run both of the SP LPF's and the only difference is the new one is smaller.

I was leaning toward the Tekin b/c of the support. According to SP's web site, the new v2.0 speedo will be upgradeable via software updates also. That seems to be the biggest difference btw the v1.1 and v2.0. I probably would not go wrong with either one. But I keeping going back the one big difference -- so many already running the Tekin in oval and the help that I would be able to get to get up to speed quickly.

Yes that is just your opinion. I had a Tekin RS pro and sold it a few weeks later because I didnt like it. I have run the Speed passion and liked it but right now I like the LRP stock spec best... but this is just my opinion and shouldnt carry any more or less weight than any other opinion.

I currently own the Following ESC's
Novak GTB 4-cell
Novak GTB Spektrum
LRP Sphere '05
LRP Sphere TC
Tekin RS
Tekin RS Pro

The programming is different on each ESC so you must learn something new in order to make your experience better.

I started with the Novaks and I like them because that is what I know and started with.
Then through some fourm buys I ended up with a LRP that was just as good as the GTB's. In oval, I found the LRP gave my setup of the same speed with lower rollout, but the overal speeds were about equal. I then favored the LRP for oval and put the 4-cell GTB in my buggy and the other in TC. When sold off my Xrays and bought a TC5 used, it came with the LRP Comp TC. I could tell that this ESC had more speed and punch in 13.5 than the GTB.
With my Tekins I am still in the air on why I like the RS as there are many reasons to like the RS. The RS is smaller, has a improved way to wire the ESC and is completly programable. From my understanding it is up to me to tune the ESC to make the best of it. I supposed a person can tune the Tekin to feel like the other brands so the performance should be matched to any brand. I like the fact I can connect my RS to my PC and view my settings. This beats having to look for flashing LEDs of different colors when sometime the ESC is mounted beside a servo or motor. The tekin also has an onboard TEMP read out so after the run you can easily see how hard the ESC was working by looking at the read out LED's on top.

I do not have any experience with SP, but I don't need to spend any more money.

the tekin i feel is most tunable you can up and down the boost 1 point at a time and any team driver or person at the track will help you out.

I dont have any complaints on any of them I own 2 lrp's and 3 gtb's along with a tekin r/s. The only things so far that sets them apart is I have had outstanding tech support from tekin and the tunability and upgradabilty of the tekin is very nice.

i am not sponsored by tekin

last week i had a issue with my hot wire and my PC...i called the tekin phone number..someone alive answered the phone and walked me through my problem..by the end of the phone call i was dialed in and off racing...

that goes a long long way with me...not only is the esc now up to speed and small..but customer service gets an A+ from me...

keep it up tekin!!!!!!!
