I am new to the rc world, there are two tracks close to my place that are dirt oval and run electric only. I have some questions about the cars. Most people are telling me that the dirt modifieds are just converted 2wd trucks, is that correct and what truck would be the best to convert? Is it just a body conversion? How do you feel about the Losi 1/10th scale slider as a car to start out with, there are no spec slider classes so they tell me that the slider has to run with the modified class, what kind of upgrades does the slider need to be somewhat competitive? Does anyone sell a rtr late model in 1/10th scale? Thanks for any help.

I would see what the fast guys are running and go from there. there are some kits out there that would do what you looking to do but with out knowing what the rules are at the track you are planing on running it is hard to say what you want to do but T4 run good but the can break easy if you crash alot the slider may be ok they handle good a losi truck would be good too they are fast and hold up to a crash better. and dont kid your self on dirt oval you will crash at some time good luck with your racing

If you have never raced or owned a RC I would recommend getting a truck to start off with. I run losi personally but have run losi for years and know the tricks with them. Associated trucks are easier to build, dial in and drive very well. They are very upgradable and easy to get parts for also. I not sure about the statement of dirt cars being trucks but they are far from it. I run both classes and the trucks are far less forgiving than a pan style dirt oval car. I recommend you buy a Assc T-4 RTR and cut your teeth with that. If you like racing it then the sky is the limit. If you don't like racing than you have a fun toy to bash the driveway with. But my money is on a year from now I will be reading posts from you as a racer!
Any help you need just ask any racer at your local track or jump on here! It's the best gang you could ever join! Not saying you don't get shot at once in awhile! But the bullets are painless when hit by them! LOL...........:p

Truer words were never spoken. It is tempting to get everything off E-bay or online, but that doesn't help the local hobbyshop/ racetrack. Most are struggling to survive- especially in these hard times.
