Recently spotted some M2 classic cars at TRU and the hoods were bouncing around loose in all the clamshells . . . like five or six cars, the whole row on the peg. WTF? Is anyone else seeing this too or did the local boys drop the box off the back of the loading dock?

I have seen one like that.

I was actually wondering about that as well...received one in a sealed case that had its hood detached...waiting for a replacement. At any case, it may be a quality issue, though perhaps it's isolated to only a few. Perhaps Sean knows some details about this.

I have seen a couple with broken hood hinges . I assume its from the rough shipping & handling they must get ..

I don't think it's very isolated, I saw two in the same shipment at a WM the other day.

I've seen alot of quality control issues with these cars. Hoods off, bumpers hanging, bodies in two pieces, etc. Reminds me of the old Racing Champions.

I haven't found any loose hoods but I have had some doors that won't close all the way. Personally, I would like the cars just as well if they didn't have the opening hoods and doors.

The only quality issues I have had/seen is the flat tires.

I definately enjoy the opening doors and hood.

I also just experienced a noncloseable door on the new Mustang. I thought by working it back and forth that it might free up. Instead it snapped off and fell into my hand! I then removed the baseplate and found the problem. The remainder of the hinge arm attached to the post extension was somehow jammed. I tried to remove the screw inserted into this post and discovered it is apparently stripped! Having paid $6 for this model, I want to display it.
Looks like the best way is to glue the door and hinge permanently onto the post (?) But no more opening door! A shame ! This is a very nice looking and realistic replica casting!
But of the almost 3 dozen different castings I have, this is the first production problem I have encountered.

Hey Dave. Do you remember if your bad doors were the ones that were displayed open in the blister pack? That has been the case with mine.

Yes Greg. It was the open door ( passenger side) that was impossible to close. Now , Monday Morning Quarterbacking" , I realize I should have removed the baseplate before trying to free up the door! Now I know why 'Super Glue " was invented! Have not yet tried it. Hesitating to do anything further for a while until I get a better frame of mind !

In the last few days I have seen the daytona in a mint package, but the car looked like it was hit by a train! Today I saw a '57 Fairlane, also in a mint package with the hood laying in the package, the back bumper and taillights off and the body seperated from the frame. I do not understand how these got past QC.
