Here are a few pictures of some of my creations. Slotnewbie has been bugging me to post some. Also there is a picture of an unidentified AFX chassis I adopted. What is it? This is my first try at posting pics so I hope it goes OK. Jeff Van Stemp

Jeff, Very nice cars... As to the piece you have that is unidentified, it is a front end to the AF/X dragsters, they were added to the front of four gear specialty chassis.

Yes, I had the wheels machined. I mounted the sponge on them myself. I still have 75 wheels in a box, but I am running out of sponge. I need to find a place to buy some. If you are interested in some wheels, I can sell you some of what I have (they are just rims - no tires). I should drop by the machine shop and see if he still has the program on file, and see what it would cost to get some more made up. If I get some more sponge, I could mount the tires and sell you the finished product. The front tires on the NASCAR truck are from the model kit - they just happened to fit on the rims perfect. Sometimes when you mount the hard tires from a model kit, they aren't very round. On a big commercial track this would be disaster, but on a smaller home track where the speeds are not so extreme, they usually work OK - and they look great. These rims are big enough in diameter that you can actually insert some model rims inside the aluminum - you can't see it on the picture, but my Jolly Rancher has the model wheels inserted in the rim, and it looks just like the real thing.

How did you make out on this? I would be interested in the tire/wheel combos. I've built some 1/25 scale slots using model car kits and the wheels would be a nice addition to them. I prefer 1/32 but building your own cars from kits can be fun but often the kit wheeels/tires leave a lot to be desired.

I haven't made new tires yet - sounds like I should get my butt in gear.
I appreciate the interest. Jeff
