zed300 02-20-2009, 12:28 PM Very Cool! I will probably get the whole set, though I am really looking forward to stock versions of the Galaxie and Buick.
1976Cordoba 02-21-2009, 01:27 PM Marauder? Seriously??
They going to morph it into Crown Vic cabs & cop cars maybe?

They already do have a crown vic. The marketing car for GL at the diecast convention right now is the Vic and I know a couple OLD's have special editions for the vic also, but they are not out yet.
One thing that was a concern for me was the engine difference between the vic and the marauder and GL specifically said that they are different engines so this should be a really nice casting.
Galaxieman 02-23-2009, 09:57 AM Has anyone else noticed the picture of the front of the Galaxie depicts the grille from the XL, LTD and 7 Litre while the model has the Galaxie 500 grille. It is a world of difference on the 1/1 with the XL grille much better looking.

Galaxieman, I haven't seen the actual car yet .. The pre-release marketing pics that Dipstick shared a few weeks ago shows , what looks like , the correct XL parking lamps on the car to match the packaging .
Have you recieved delivery of the casting ? If so , could you show some pics of the front and back. I'm curious how correct they did on this casting..
Thanks,
Steve
Lummox 02-23-2009, 12:20 PM At least the proportions look good on this one.
They should do one in Galaxieman Green with those cool "mag hubcaps".

I haven't seen the car yet either just pics. The one I saw back in early December showed the 500 grille pretty clearly. The one in the original post here does look more like the XL but still not clear. The rest of the casting looks good and the 500 grille is not bad just not as classy as the diecast grille in the XL. The 500 grille was stamped aluminum.
Lummox, I do not think we will see the mag style wheelcovers on a 66 but will have to wait for a 69, which is where mine came from.

I looked at those pics and cannot decide. Looks like the proper parking lights but the rest of the grills looks wrong. Anybody able to post a pic of the front head-on?

Galaxieman 02-23-2009, 05:19 PM I'm sorry I meant a shot of the Greenlight model. I have a 1/1 XL and am fairly familiar with that gorgeouis grille
Steves164 02-23-2009, 06:59 PM What seems to look GOOFY with the grill of GLs marketing pic is the presence of the vertical crome bars on their pic of the XL..
Galaxieman , your the best reference since you own one... , Is there vertical pieces behind the horizontal parts to add to support , but are blacked out so you don't notice them? ...
I've seen pics of the "500" where there are vertical bars , but not that noticable until up close..

Yes there are flat vertical bars at the back of the horizontal bars to give them stability. They are painted flat black. They are barely noticeable and would not be seen from 3 feet plus away.
In the attached picture you can see them where the grille is backlit from the sun.

NICE PIC ... Very clear to see .. Ford's intent is to display horiz. bars only for the classier XL, LTD and 7 Litre .
The Custom, Galaxie ,and Galaxie 500 have discrete vertical bars that are spaced every 4-5 inches, very much like the 1/64 version of their XL.
Plus the casting doesn't have that prominent gap that separates the top and bottom grill sections..
But , regardless, this casting will be very welcome in my collection ...

and you know I second that !!!!!!:woohoo:
PWSchuh 03-04-2009, 12:02 PM Is that Buick GS drag car a replica of an actual drag car or just a fantasy car??
GT350H 03-14-2009, 04:28 AM That Galaxie looks sweet. I don't care for the decos though. I'll wait for a red or solid black.
BluntFronts 03-14-2009, 06:25 PM Man, I really want to support GL, but none of these appeal to me.
I would buy clean stock versions of the Buick and Galaxie, but these shore ain't them.
Maybe the Challenger will come home with me, but it seems that I already have more than a few orange ones from all diecast companies.
The straight-stock 'Vette is the only shoe-in, I guess, but even it's a bit of a schnoooze...
