I have a HPI Firestorm, havoc 8.5 novac brushless set up, also using maxamp 6500 lipo batteries. I put in a 21 pinion gear because the truck was flipping over lol, still flips over btw. I don't have gun so not sure of the temp of the motor, but to the feel it doesn't seem to be that hot, doesn't burn you or anything like that.. so why did my plug end melt, haven't ran the truck to many times was wanting to get a gun to see what the temp was.. Any guess on what my problem is, i would like the truck to not flip over and not melt of course lol. tnks again. Truck has never shut down either.

What type of plugs? Bullet, Deans, Tamiya?

I'm assuming you are still using the white plugs that come with the speed control? If you are then that is your problem, they are junk. They can't handle any kind of amperage from the battery to the speed control so they in turn........fry. I would look into getting some Deans or Traxxas connectors for your battery and speed control and you shouldn't have any further problems.

Yeah the standard tammiya conectors wont cut it for running an 8.5.Switch to Deans, or bullet plugs. To get it to quit pulling the wheels of the ground try setting up the slipper so it slipps for the first couple feet.Loosening the slipper will also help your gear diff last a little longer.
