Not the decorations, are the tools for these models only
used in playsets like the Badlander?
Can you share their names please?
Thanks in advance.

The first model is a playset exclusive model. It is the MB757 Swamp Raider and so far it has only appeared in the Croc Escape playset. However, if you are a variation nut you can find 2 versions of it (although the white windowed one is pretty difficult to find).

The other model is the MB661 Tow Truck. This is not a playset exclusive as it has appeared in the basic range a few times. Its last outing as a basic range model was in pale blue in 2007.

So far Mattel have only made 2 playset exclusive models. In 2008 they created the MB732 Badlander, and in 2009 they made the MB757 Swamp Raider. The reasoning behind this is that they looked at some of the generics they had and realized there was not a lot of variety for them to use in playsets. They no longer use licensed vehicles in playsets with the exception of the 360 playsets (the top of the range ones). This ruling was a recent one which has caused the creation of these playset exclusive models.

They are likely to do more exclusives over coming years.

:) :D :p

Thanks David. The Tow Truck did look familiar but I didn't
have a clue about the Swamp Raider. Such a cool model!
I'm not a variation nut so either window color will do :)

There's a purple vary of the Tow Truck in a 2008 10 pack. I almost bought it just for that, but, alas, $$$.

Hey! I have that purple one! I got it in the 2008 Christmas
Stocking 2-packs. Sure enough, I just dragged it out of my
Jammer and it's the same model. The color made it look totally
different.

Here's another color of the Tow Truck.
My purple version totally hides the shape/textures of the model.
The orange and red versions clearly show the masculine, broad
shape of the front end of the model, from the cab forward.
