View Full Version : Preferred traction compound
Turtletrax 02-17-2009, 03:11 PM I know this is beat dead, but Ive only tried paragon fx(seems to get steadily looser toward end of run and craps out soon after) and the black can effects stuff(killer but eats bodies like crazy). Is there a compound that sticks as well but doesnt eat bodies? What do you guys prefer from high grip to low grip situations? What doesnt smell like Ben Gay lol(dont bother me but it always does someone- dont have to buy car air fresheners anymore lol)
casper60 02-17-2009, 03:25 PM Your going to want to use Jack The Gripper.
no wintergreen smell, doesn't eat the lexan (that would be the wintergreen) and works just as well if applied correctly. Unlike Paragon, you can throw it on and wipe it off just before a run, you have to time it a little bit and let it soak in before you run it. Just be careful not to do it too soon or else it won't work as well.
Mike Clark 02-17-2009, 05:19 PM How About Wd40!
Dose WD-40 work good on foams on carpet?
REVALATION 02-17-2009, 06:25 PM Paragon fx does me good i put it on then wipe it of right away and let it sit for 10-15 min
TBRC1 02-17-2009, 06:53 PM I have had good luck with the traction action from paragon
REVALATION 02-17-2009, 06:59 PM but w/e compound u use make sure when u set ur car on the track you rub the tires off on the track. it helps ALOT. ive been doing it for a month now and it works

How exactly is paragon eating your body?
My preference if you can choose whether wintergreen or non wg.
1. Paragon Ground Effects
2. Jack the Gripper
3. Paragon Traction Action
4. Niftech
5. TQ 8+
Turtletrax 02-18-2009, 06:11 PM ground effects eats paint, bodies, table, stand anything it touches, put all that time into a body andif it even touches your rag on accident and its screwed. Or have it on your finger and you now have a permanent fingerprint. I dropped a drop on the other day when upside down doing tires and it went right through paint and discolored yellow on the outside. I had a tire rag in my box and it stuck to my pliers even. yes I could be extra careful(right) or what im going to do is try jack next i guess. dont get me wrong performance is awesome, my second race ever my buddy put some on and I traction rolled lol
swtour 02-18-2009, 07:04 PM ...when legal, I still use Stick-E.T.
I don't know if it's still commercially available or not, but I have a large supply on hand.

ToddFalkowski 02-19-2009, 10:02 AM How exactly is paragon eating your body?
Danny, whether it's the methyl salicylate in it, or something else, it does attack the body. I painted up some pit boards using Lexan versus poly, which worked great until the Paragon dripped on it... :(
Mike Clark 02-19-2009, 10:35 AM Dose WD-40 work good on foams on carpet?
Yes it will.
CTspeed 02-19-2009, 10:41 AM WD-40 has work for many years and still a good choice.
Chris
Wow i was wondering if that ? was ever gonna get answered lol. Thanks alot for it too.
REVALATION 02-19-2009, 02:10 PM ive been useing the same body for about a year and still no paint chips eating away of paint. not sayin ur wrong just saying my experiance w/ it. but i get it on my hands all the time its still under my nails from last night. my hands are black at the end of the night.
casper60 02-19-2009, 02:29 PM It will eat lexan IF it sprays on the body. That just means your not wiping your tires off enough before you run the car.
I have old bodies that had some shoot up on the rear window and you can see what it did to the lexan.
I had a really good tire "softener" I made when I raced cars, and less a couple of additives I put in it, it may work really well for foams... I think I may experiment with that and see what happens...
Turtletrax 02-19-2009, 02:30 PM Sorry for going overboard on ya lol long night. Thought you were just truyin to start somethin REV. that was the first thing I noticed with the stuff. Sorry
SHAKY DAVE 02-19-2009, 05:35 PM i still use stick et.both the cleaner & traction compound.i have hot rod hobbys in saugus,ca order it for me.works great
REVALATION 02-19-2009, 05:39 PM currently in my box i have jack the "slipper" paragon fx and paragon ground effects. and i have tried niftech(i thinks thats what it is) but always for some reason i go back to paragon and it works the best for my car. i also run jaco tires dont kno if that has anything to do with it but it works. i went from bsr to jacos and i picked up a lap. dont kno how that works but it worked.
