There are many of you disapointed that there is no paved oval nats this year. Well here's your solution. From July 29- Aug 2nd the Carolina RC Complex will host the Mason Dixon Cap Tire Nations so start making your plans. Of course the Core classes will include 21.5, 17.5, and 10.5(mod) lipo. What we need to know is anyone interested in running 10.5 or 13.5 or 17.5 4cell. Please post here. There will be many more details to follow including rules, handout tire information, Entry Fee and so forth. So who's in and what class...

will there be any nitro cars, also what about 1/4 scales...it would be cool to see a huge oval race like the snowbirds!

not sure on the nitro cars i think donnie is working with mclin on that. But i'm going to go out on a limb here and say yes the .09 and .12/.15 will be invited using gascar rules.

No handout tire! keep it simple and cheap..dont have too many classes where there is a handful in each class! have a few classes with alot of entries where winning means something!

the cap tires isnt my call, i know donnie has talked to john at bsr and there were concerns that in some of the non spec classes if you dont run a handout tire guys will show up with "special" tires. dont shoot the messanger just what i am told. plus it puts everybody even and prevents a tire war if one compound runs better than the next and so on. Its in the plannin stage now just wanted everyone to know there was going to be a national paved oval race this year.

OK,
If there is no spec tire! what would be the tires of choice for 21.5 lipo!
It has been along time (whipporwill)sense i was on caps
Would love to come up and race but not to spend 200$ on tires for a one shot weekend race

BudD
02-14-2009, 12:05 AM

I talked with donnie yesterday. Of course the 21.5 lipo class will run BSR Spce tires only. In terms of the handout tire thats still in the planning and disscussion process. I realize it adds to the cost and effort in cutting tires but look at it this way if you can buy a set at less than retail then why wouldnt you want to. Also it prevents people from showing up with tires that no one else can get. John at BSR has expressed concerns on this. Finally it may not be a full set of handout tires it may be right sides for example. Again dont shoot the messanger just want to keep everyone updated. Get the word out we are going cap tire racing.

FLYING5
02-16-2009, 03:01 PM
how can anyone show up with tires you cant get unless john made the tires?sounds like a load of bs.john just says that so he can sell more tires because lets face it,cap tire tracks are far and few between so why would john worry about special tires unless he made them, and i quote "i'm the only cap tire game in town" those are his words from the nats so dont be fooled by his bs there is no reason for handout tires in spec tire classes!

Aren't we all just rays of sunshine?????:)

nickbell1390
02-16-2009, 06:37 PM
easy tommy......would you rather pay 80 bucks a set or 60 bucks a set....

FLYING5
02-16-2009, 09:53 PM
i would rather run the tires i have but if john wanted to sell discounted tires at the race for all the cap tire support easley has given him i'm cool with that but the timing for some maybe bad becuase 60 bucks is 60 bucks you'll get more racers if the total price to race the event has a lower total cost.also the added headache of cutting tires and breaking in tires is a headache plus every time you have to put your car on the track that you dont have to(cutting in tires) is a chance you take of a hillbob tko'ing your car and killing your weekend! i still love you nick:rolleyes:

nickbell1390
02-16-2009, 09:59 PM
i love you too tommy......like i said before its still in talks, no decisions have been made just trying to get the word out there. We want this to be a big race. Come on out guys.....remember core classes 2400 sportsman (no team or sponsored drivers) 21.5 lipo, 17.5 lipo, 10.5 lipo.....let us know if anyone wants round cells. I'm working on a flyer and need to know if anyone wants to run these classes....would really hope for atleast 10 or more, but lets see what we can do.

FLYING5

He puts on some good races and I'm sure this one will be too! Love the name too! Thanks guys.

02-16-2009, 11:50 PM
The .09 and .012 will be running also. We have talked about 2 handout tires for the Right side only or all 4. The reason for this is to save the racer that wants to come and be on the same tire as everybody else. If you do open tire then what to buy, that will cost even the locals to start buying tires for 1 race and it will cut the out of town racers out because not noing what tire will work on his car. All this talk about tire cutting not always the fastest.

Speed wise, what would the single cell lipo 13.5 compare to? would it be close to 21.5 3200, 21.5 2400 so on and soforth.

Flying5, only when we run at Easley, us south florida folk have been decapped.

We have made it to easley for the big races, regionals and nats the last couple years.. Had a date conflict at the last nats but trying to work out the schedule for this augs race.

Personally I'd like to see handout tires for 21.5 3200 and 17.5 the rest could bring their own. Sportsman will be no team drivers and no sponsored drivers and will more than likely have a sipulation that the track has the right to refuse entry (to prevent any former national champions who maybe not be sponsored from sneaking in). 10.5 of course is open so it shouldnt need a handout tire. I dont see where anyone would show up to an event like this with 2 month old tires on their last legs so why not be able to buy tires at a reduced cost....

Looks good to me, just need to clarify the 21.5 sportsman class, with no sponsered drivers. If some one had a sponser how long of time should be since dropped? This includeds all sponserships (chassie, tire, body, paint, parts)? Just want it all cleared up before the Nats.

Well, it looks like I will not be able to attend the Mason/Dixon race schedule conflict with wife. I heard there where going to a race in June, if that is true, any info on that race available yet?

Hey Mike, what do you think about a truck body in 13.5? just to mix it up a little.
TomC

nickbell1390
02-28-2009, 09:38 PM
tom i'd love to run a truck body just to make it different but I think the idea was to make it so you could use the same body in two classes. Maybe if we get a few more interested in trucks we could get donnie to change that...there's still time. So anybody else?

69mkitmine
03-01-2009, 08:57 PM
I love to see the trucks runnin' on the track... I'll be there either way. Looking forward to seeing you guys there.

Wish Cody and I could make it down this year again. But the funds are just not there this year. Work has been really slow. Unless things turn around quick. Wish we could, we loved it there the last 2 yrs.
