As of TODAY, I will be stepping down as head of the WDRA. My hand-picked replacement is Kirt Coonradt. I feel that Kirt is the best possible choice to lead the WDRA into the future. Kirt is currently the head honcho of the Capital District Radio Controlled Racers club, which is believed to be the longest continuously running R/C club in the country, tracing its roots back to 1978. This experience, along with being a respected racer and great race director with an unparalled sense of fairness will, I feel, allow the WDRA to move to the future and be around for years to come.
In the coming days I will be working with Kirt to transition everything that he will need into his hands. Please welcome Kirt to the WDRA and support him as you have supported me by coming out to the tracks and showing why the WDRA has the greatest collection of drivers in the nation.
As for me.....Well, I've decided to hang up my transmitter. Racing the limited schedule that I have over the past several years has become frustrating. It hardly seems sensible to maintain the equipment needed to be competitive, yet only use it 8-12 times per year. The time has come for me to move on to the next chapter of my life, as this one does not afford me the time devote to this hobby that I feel is needed. I'm not ruling out a comeback someday, but I'm not going to guarantee it either. In the coming weeks I'll be selling off some equipment, so if you're looking for some stuff, I'll be around for a little while yet.
In full "pulling a Rupey" fashion,
Wally
