Be able to get at the electronics,...lighting...etc?

I'm asking this as I "finally" seal up the Flying Sub bay/under bow area.

The fit is good but, hot glue or white won't hold well enough to give a good seam line. I will leave the tail fins unglued (the fit there is nice and tight.)

I'm just betting on Finagle's law...or maybe, Murphy's....the secont I get her all sealed up.....

I have seen this done by another modeller, and that's the way I will do it.The whole top portion of the hull, just below the ballast holes was scored and removed, glued together to form one long piece with the sail attached to it,like a radio control boat.

I like that. I was hoping for less modification, but that makes goos sense.

(I tried to bullet proof my lighting, led christmas strand..lol)

The lower hull is drying as we speak...

I have been working on installing a simple battery-powered light system in my Seaview. I cut the Diving Bell/Minisub hatch out and glued the two pieces together. I plan on holding it agains the hull with a magnet. The area above has a space the battery pack fits into. I will have to add some very thin plastic sheet to the edges of the hatch to create a smaller seam line than the cutting blade left.

Looking at making mine rc with lights.
I saw a build by Steve Neills that has very little glue.
Its mainly working with magnets and the existing joints.

As opposed to cutting the superstructure like Dave Merrimans design.

Thanks guys!

What I finally ended up doing was using Testor's Liquid cement (sparingly)
and tacking the lower bow on, then I filled the small seam with thinned white glue. It shows a slight seam, but I'll be able to repair any future breakdowns.

I'll shoot some pics in a bit...

My Fiber optic cable showed up Saturday...20 minutes later I had the tailfins lit...lol. I'm setting up some pics so you can see.

I took 1/4" evergreen tubing (it fits snugly over the Christmas tree LEds, like a bayonet mount) The I took smaller and smaller diameter heat shrink tubing untill I had a size that was close to the diameter of the fiber optic.

I used low temp hot glue to build the bulb socket/fiber optic adapters.

The folks at Fibre optic Products Inc. were great! I ordered on wed. had my cable on sat. And it was cheap! (less that 25 cents a foot.)

This is the connector I built to attach christmas bulbs to the fiber optic cable.

The rear fins are the only place I used fiber optics. I did use stretched clear sprue in the sail to light the compass binacle and the Nav. lights.

Here she is, I spent about 16 bucks to light her up

Control room: I put the bulbs on top of a piece of clear plastic that I had buffed to diffuse the light.

Thank you.
I build for myself...but it's a hoot when I can take a pic of something I love.

And I don't hate it...lol
