I am in need of the Base for the Lionel Gantry Crane 2302 (UP) Does anyone have any parts for this? I've had it since I was a kid and it was a Christmas gift from my parents, but over the years of moving and being stores the base has broke in to several peices.

Thanks,
Andrew

Andrew,
You can get the pictorial diagram and parts list for your crane from the Lionel site. Then, you'll know the exact parts numbers to look for, when dealing with parts dealers.

I realize this manual crane is a childhood toy you wish to restore. Once you've done so, you may want to consider getting an operating crane. They're one of the funner accesories!

Thanks for the reply, The problem I havingis that none of the parts dealers I've contacted (about 20 of them) have the parts for the base. They are no longer available. :( So the search continues.

You can certainly get the plastic tower frame pieces, as they are common to all the Lionel postwar #282-style gantry cranes- although I don't know whether they're available in molded black. You don't really need the part numbers specific to your crane, unless you're a hard-core purist. The screws and speednut are not even specific to your crane, and should also be easily available through a parts dealer.

The only part that is likely to be a problem to get is the stud. If you have all the other parts for the crane, it should be fairly easy to jury-rig one from a machine screw and some K&S thin-wall tubing.

Thanks for the info, I found the parts I need from other part numbers (282). I appreciate your help. Color is not an issue as I can always paint it.

Thanks,
Andrew
