Hello all!
Figured since alot liked my link for info on lighting a space pod core cheaply, I'd share this goody for cheap lighting on the little flying sub that comes with the Moebius Seaview kit.
While shopping at a store in the area called "5 Below", I came across a set of battery operated lights called "Quik Brites". You get a box of 10 of these mini lights, for 5 dollars, and they are mini lights, you can stick and mount anywhere in your house for light. They all operate off of 3 of those little button batteries, and are really bright. Now, for the best part. They are switched on MAGNETICALLY! How great is that??
I figure gut them out, put the lights into the flying sub, with the magnet actuators at the top of the flying sub hatch. Then, put the plate, or magnet it attaches to inside the flying sub launch bay, behind the upper piece. When you pull the sub out of the launch bay, Viola'!, instant lit flying sub. And it also will make the sub easy to mount into the sub bay, since it's all magnetic.
I figure, simply assemble the sub so that the batteries can be accessed when they get low, and it should work well. I'm gonna fiddle with it once I start the sub in a few weeks, but thought I'd let everone know about these great lights, so you can go scavenging to see if you can find them as well.
Please, let me know if anyone tries this before I do, and I hope everyone can find a use for these cheap little light gems. Best of luck everyone!
As always, i'll post anymore modeling goodies I find.
Sincerely,
Scorp.
