View Full Version : G+ Pick Up Shoe Life Expectancy?
Jerzferno 02-08-2009, 11:12 PM What kind of life are you guys getting out of your pick up shoes? I have several cars with no more than 2 hours on them each. Starting to see deep grooves in some of the shoes. Not yet completely through, but getting there?

you could have to tweak how your shoes are set up.get them as flat as possible on the rail,to even out the wear pattern.you want a nice centered hourglass wear pattern.search the threads there are a few about pickup shoe wear.:)
micyou03 02-09-2009, 12:08 AM I usually cut a couple of the winds off the springs to reduce the force of the shoe on the rail. This helps the shoes last longer.
Slotcarjames 02-09-2009, 07:48 AM Also if one shoe is wearing more than the other, you can rotate them too.

tjettim 02-09-2009, 10:20 AM I use the BSRT shoes for the G3R.They last alot longer.
RiderZ 02-09-2009, 07:54 PM I too run the BSRT 249 & 249Q.The Q stands for Qualifier. They dont last quite as long as the 249's.The 249's are what comes stock on a the BSRT G line of cars. G3 & G-Jet.:)
LDThomas 02-09-2009, 08:29 PM How smooth are the track joints?
old blue 02-09-2009, 10:15 PM What brand is the track? Lifelike?
Jerzferno 02-09-2009, 10:21 PM I would say the joints are pretty good. Its AFX/Tomy track. I could make them smoother, and will once the track is mounted on my table. Right now I have a layout on the floor for the kids.
LDThomas 02-11-2009, 09:14 PM As you well know, it doesn't take much of an offset in the rails at the joints to make a very nice saw.

v---------------------v------------------v---------------------v = bad track joints
...the only difference is the frequency of the tooth.
LDThomas 02-13-2009, 09:08 PM Excellent graphic Sir William of Hall.
