which roar legal 21.5 motor is the best for paved oval?

as of the last time I looked (about 10 seconds ago) there is only ONE listed on the ROAR Approved List!

my bad, i didnt know that the 21.5 was the only motor that was trinity only. 10.5, 13.5 and 17.5 have lots of options. which 21.5 is best for non roar?

I believe it was a NOVAK 21.5 that won the SNOWBIRDS last week...but you will probably find that most are pretty close...

If you are running someplace that uses open motor rules..you can play with a few brands, but the NOVAK Motors are usually up to the task!

21.5 at the birds was novak only but still could be the best 1

i think it really matters what speedo you run, motors are pretty equivalent to one another, sum may have a bit more low end or top end than other's, but by far a speedo makes more of a difference than motor....

ran a Tekin 21.5 last night and was about .1 faster then the novak i had.....It had a little more rip, from the middle to the end of the straight..

Yeah mine runs a few teeth lower to. The novaks seem to have the drive off the corner but im catching them again by by mid straight and gaining quick. That said I havent been able to beat the top novaks still. Driver error

im liking tekins 21.5.lots of rip and doesent fall off as bad as the orange motors.we're basically locked in to orion 3400's out here on the west coast.

the answer for that completely and totally is determined by track size....next comes speedo....then tire size....so basically we need more info

Track size, none, this is for open run.

Speedo, it is the stock speedo that make with the Novak 21.5 motor as it was the kit that was bought.

Tire diameter is 2.4 inches.

Reverse speed is faster than forward, and the brakes are weak. I figured that this ESC might need to be re-programed as well, but that should be a post for another thread.

Well, I am actually not letting on to my whole situation. Perhaps I should open a new thread on that one, and not hijack the other guys thread completely.

To be honest I was more curious of actual used gearing & final drive ratios you guys use so I can see where I should really be at with a stock setup. It would help me gauge as I learn more about this aspect of things.

TeamTEOR, I don't think your going to find much help with 21.5 2cell in a legends car. This is the frist I have heard of anyone trying anything nearly that fast in a Legends.

We have had some discussion of running 17.5 1 cell lipo in legends.

also which 21.5 motor and esc are you using, I believe there are more than one type, I think they have a xbr speed control in a kit with a non SS 21.5, the type of motor will make a big difference on gearing. I don't remember what the non SS motors are called.
