If it has lake pipes it is from release 2 (customs). Regular car.

I have not seen this Oldsmobile but . . .

Oldsmobile was very proud of the "Rocket V-8" when it was first introduced. There was a display hood created for Olds to use when one of those V-8 cars was in an Oldsmobile showroom. The entire hood was not clear but there was a clear section in the center area of the hood. I believe that this clear hood section was more frequently used on the smaller cars - the 88s, not the 98s. I also believe that this clear panel was used on cars of just a few years earlier - say 1950 to about 1952. I have only seen it on a real car one time and it was on an 88 two door sedan from about 1951 or 1952.

This may be what M2, to me an ambitious company whose product is too often inaccurate, was trying to do. Any Oldsmobile people out there will have a better understanding of this than I do.

I love the information available on the Internet.

the clear hood was actually on showroom models of 1949 Olds'.

I think this might be the car in question. It is from our 2nd release of the Auto-Thentics, all the casting where done in a mild custom version. And NO, we where not trying to do the promotional hood to show of the new Rocket V-8. We where just going for something fun and different. I am aware of these promotional hoods (and not just Oldsmobile versions), and the photos I have on my computer at work show two smaller holes in the top center of the hood. The photos that Frank posted are very interesting, and I and not seen these. I will try to post the photos Monday if I get a chance.
