I think it's funny that some of the same guys who are against Battery Warming/Heating are also against cooling motors...

What and WHY are there issues with getting a motor cooled down before (or after) it's been raced?

THEY DON'T BLOW UP!

When racing where it's HOT, I have a FAN to cool the motor down...and if it's really hot I'll borrow one of the old MOTOR Freezers.

Is it the TEMPS that bother people? The methods of Freezing? or just the plain fact that some guys choose to do it?

I guess the only thing I can see is not everyone has a freezer and as much as we keep trying to bring in new people and keep the ones we have, using the simplicity/cheaper bl/lipo argument this is one more thing you would need to buy or complicate a race day? :dude:

In case you are lumping me into that group, for what I
said on the other thread, let me clarify my position for you.

I said that if some are so worried about accidents happening
by heating packs, for the very unlikely chance one may
burst into flames, and destroy the earth as we know it,
then why are THOSE people not AS concerned
with spraying freezer, after seeing the beard burner
at the Birds?
Was it a freakazoid?
Of course.
But it happened nonetheless.

MY problem with both, is WHY??
How much does an individual gain, if everyone does
the exact same thing? NOTHING.
You only have an edge, if you are the only one doing it!
But the bottom line for ME is...
it's one more thing to deviate from what a great, simple thing
lipo/brushless racing COULD have been.

WHY must we make this soooooooo complicated??

disclaimer:
I race indoors, carpet, temperature is the same for everyone.
You guys that race outside, but some pit inside, some outside,
that's up to you to iron out, I'm not in it,
so I have no comment on it.
I'm talking about carpet oval... indoors... same temp for everyone.

I will say that it does make a difference on hot summer days on a 130 deg asphalt. I've never really seen much of a difference on carpet. Motors were melting down at snowbirds left and right with everyone cooling and freezing, imagine if there was not cooling allowed.

Guess they would have to change their gearing?

at that race you push everything to the limit...it pretty much turned into one race motors for some, seemed if they got hot once they were more prone to get hotter and hotter, til they burned up.

thats why the birds is the birds, the best of the best going wheel to wheel pushing it to the limit.

Understood, Danny...

Disclaimer #2:
I don't race that ONE huge, monster race of the year..
I'm talking about every Sunday morning that I race,
with the 'usual' bunch of guys....
I see no point in it.
Heatin' or freezin'...

I dont care either way, as I am going to do what I have to, to keep up with everyone. If I get beat by someone who is freezing their motors and heating their packs...I will get out my stuff and do the same thing.

If we just say no to both of them and enforce it that is just one less thing that we have to do. Some races outside in the 120 degree heat may say freezing is ok. But where racing is most popular it is about 20 degrees for 70% of the racing season.

Plus some of that stuff is bad if it gets on you.

Just one less thing to do, and one less thing someone new has to learn how to do properly before he burns the place down.

I can see yous guy's Point out here in Cali If it's 120+ at the track. I'm Cooling My Motor. I probly wont Heat batt But Cooling Motor Hell yea
I've Check Motor Temps before going out to run and found my Motor Still 100+ deg after all rounds ran. Thats Not much room for heat it motor for racing. So Yea Cooling OK
Now when you at a place Say Indoors No reason for Cooling Motor a Little Computer Fan all you need

motor cooler
one less thing a "racer" would need to buy if it is not allowed

let's hear the pro guy chime in how they will place there motors in the snow or on top of the a/c vents in there trailer and still have an advantage...lol

I'll just let my ex-wife hold it. It will be frozen solid. :jest:
