If you like riding on ONE wheel, maybe you should try a UNICYCLE ! They may not go as fast, but they are a lot safer to ride

Time for my yearly request for any type of doantion for the ADDWC Charity Auction. I know times are not the best, but that affects the clients of the ADDWC also, funding cuts, grant reductions, etc.

Any donation is appreciated. Once we get a few things in, I will get a link to the album started so you can see what we will have.

Any questions, please ask.

2009 AutoFest updates and information.

The first great news is that LightningFest and AutoFest have worked out the date issues so that both shows can be attended. We encourage all to attend Lightningfest in Dyersville IA the weekend of August 8th. Stock up on some awesome Warehouse goodies and perhaps even set up a table or two a week later at AutoFest and sell off the unwanted extras you pick up. A big win-win situation for us all. If you are only into the chase scene and end up with extra stock you want to blow out, again feel free to use AutoFest as a way to recuperate some of the bulk case sales you may have made while trying to land that chase gem. This also means that Johnny Lightning will be on hand at AutoFest and Tom says they will be donating another surprise that is tentatively targeted at the Fest Feast Totes!

Speaking of the Feast. Others are busy at work making 2009 show exclusive castings this year. There will be the GreenLight Mustang Fest Feast casting based off a variation of this year’s Pace Car. Just last week AutoWorld jumped in the game with both feet working on a new X-Traction show exclusive. Tony Karamitsos is working on a new casting release that is Very Wonderful. We can’t say how Very Wonderful (VW for short from here on out) yet because the factory has to approve it but this VW itself should guarantee a sell out for the Feast this year as anything VW is always a big hit not to mention exclusive show run of 150 on a new casting! I will be BUSting we rear end to get this VW information to you as soon as possible.

We are working with no less than FOUR other new manufacturers and sponsors to add to this year’s Fest Feast tote and show. As we speak one manufacturer is working on a two casting variation so that an exclusive show contribution will be made to BOTH the Feast and Dirty Bingo. Scott Moen is heading up this project and let’s just say that Ol’ Shel is the hero of all Mustang lovers and all American racing history buffs alike. This will be a big addition to the show.

Each event this year has it’s own casting exclusive to that event and we are working with an OLD and customizer par excel lance out of Idaho that will add a big flair to the Custom Contest and to the ADDWC Charity! If you went to the Vegas show you saw their work first hand and this will be an exciting addition to the show. As soon as Jeremy locks down what the plan is we will make an official announcement of the players and the game and welcome them in with open arms. We should be finalizing details soon on another very large collectibles company that will also be adding items to the Fest and with a couple other irons in the fire and the fact we are still just in the first week of March means this show should be really kickin’ this year.

The Century Center means unlimited space so your favorite vendor and manufacturer will have as much room as they need to make this the best ever show. With the Center working on an outdoor car show with 300 plus parking spots means there should be lots going on and much more foot traffic this year! As details become solid we will continue to update you and the site at www.theautofest.com (http://www.theautofest.com/)

With all the awesome additions, it’s time to remind those who made the show possible this year with the sales of the GreenLight Fest Pace Car sets to step up. Production samples were made and mailed from China last week. As soon as I have them in hand and can verify the product, the cars will be rolling down the line. This means it’s our turn to step up. Out of all the pre-orders sold, about 3/8ths have already done their part. Payment is due now but not late until after March 15th and this is your friendly reminder that in order for the above to happen, the Pace Car sales do need to meet the target to fund all the events and action. If you made reservations and can’t make the due date, do not hesitate to e-mail me to work out arrangements. We all understand the economic issues at hand and are more than willing to work with you. NO Fest Feast reservations or details will be posted until the Pace Car sales issue are resolved. If all things go as planned this means the Fest Feast reservations should be posted by the end of March.

Keeping looking to the boards for more details and pictures as all the dominoes will be falling soon!

2009 Fest Feast Dinner.

Reservations for the 2009 Fest Feast will be taken by e-mail (m_hosaflook@skylinecorp.com (m_hosaflook@skylinecorp.com)) starting April 4th. Payment will then be due by May 1st. All accepted reservations will be notified by e-mail. This year’s Dinner is again reserved for only 150 people total and there are many additional Manufacturers scheduled to attend this year so please do not hesitate. Participating Manufacturers and Sponsors do NOT need to reserve. Last year’s reservations were sold out within hours so advance notification is given so all have equal chance. Reservations will be honored in the order e-mails are received starting at 8:00 P.M. Central Time. Reservations are for those attending. Totes cannot be picked up by others attending for you and will not be mailed out to those who can’t attend. Presentations are again scheduled to be given by AutoWorld, GreenLight, Learning Curve and MotorMax. We are also in talks to add a couple additional show exclusive surprises to the tote along with some other die-cast players and as those details become solid we will update you all. We are working very hard to make this the biggest and best show ever without taking out the family fun and increasing costs. Catering fees have gone up, facility fees have also increased and chances are there may be a small gate fee associated with our partner 1:1 Auto Show this year but to offset those costs AutoFest will keep the Dinner fee at 50.00 per person. When you see what will be included this year it will be by far the best value going in die-cast and as always we appreciate your support.

AutoFest is pleased to announce that DiecastSpace.com will be teaming up with AutoFest this year! CJ and his team will be on hand at the show with tables to display upcoming events and offer exclusive castings for AutoFest along with perhaps other exciting castings they have done or will do for other shows as well. CJ and his team are busy putting together an awesome exclusive casting to add to the Fest Feast Tote and they are more than welcome to say a few words at the Dinner to talk about future plans they may want to share with us. For those who went to the Vegas show, they already know what these guys have to offer and can bring to the table so we all want to welcome them with open arms and look forward to years of association. Keep looking for updates and as the castings get finalized we will keep you all posted with pictures and as always you can go to www.theautofest.com where all the latest updates and info will be kept.

AutoFest is pleased to announce that Carney Plastics will again be making a show exclusive case for 2009! This time Sean at Carney came up with the idea of making a few proto-type designs and offering up the pictures at all the sites for the “people’ to decide. Votes will be taken and the top vote getter will be the winner and be produced for the show. Sean also has plans of having an exclusive Carney die-cast casting made that will also be included in the sale of product. We know the quality, we know their team and it’s just another reason why you can’t miss the show this year. As soon as Sean has his mock up’s ready watch the boards for the official posting and place your votes! Way to go Sean!

Well, the first donations for the auction are coming in already. As I get time, I will take some pics and start a new thread with all the items we will have available to bid on.

Remember, we accept pretty much anything (in good taste and not junk) that you want to donate, doesn't have to be car related even.

And, as in years past, we will accept bids, even if you can't make it to AutoFest. We had several people do it last year, they just sent or paypal'd their max bid to me nd I would start their bidding at minimum and work up to their max or where it stopped getting bids. We do require the funds in front though. Unfortunately we know there are people who will stiff even a Charity... pretty low, but they are out there.

Anyway, I look forward to another great year of donations and bidding. We have some of the best, most generous people right here on Hobbytalk.

DiecastSpace.com is partnering up with AutoFest and after hearing about all the booty in this year’s Fest Feast Tote they decided to add a casting to help deliver the goods! They are doing a special Dairy Delivery from the famous Hot Wheels casting. It’s the DiecastSpace.com Delivery in 1/64! There will be one casting in each of the totes this year making this the biggest and best tote ever. That brings the tentative total so far for the Dinner to six show exclusive gems. DiecastSpace.com has been invited to speak about their upcoming events and exciting new plans and we look forward to all that they can bring to the table. As soon as pictures become available we will post them for all to view and as always you can go to www.theautofest.com (http://www.theautofest.com/) for updates as well. Many thanks to CJ for stepping up to the plate and we can’t wait to see how this killer casting turns out especially after seeing the work and show they created in Vegas.

AutoWorld will be adding a very exclusive gem to the Fest Feast totes this year. This new casting will not only be launched at Fest, it will come in an exclusive color and with show only graphics. Only 150 of these people carriers will be made and they are only available by coming to the Feast. I’m betting this casting alone would more than offset the total cost of the evening and be a highly sought after piece due to its limited numbers, popularity of the brand and Grateful Dead type legendary status. It’s a rare opportunity to see first hand what will be coming down the manufacturer’s pipelines, get some very rare casting and enjoy an evening with your peers who share your passion.

Just another reason no to miss this year’s AutoFest and especially the Fest Feast.

AutoFEST Announcement

Minneapolis, MN 4/6/2009

MINI-MOTORS, Inc. (www.mini-motorsonline.com (http://www.mini-motorsonline.com/)) announces the addition of another manufacturer to the AutoFEST die cast weekend in South Bend, Indiana this August.

Maisto International, Inc of Fontana, California has joined the event as a sponsor of the multi-manufacturer show. Included with their support will be a donation to the Feast Totes given out at the Fest Feast Dinner opening night. While the donation is a secret, it is FAIR to say that each attendee will get more than a TOY, rather, a fine collectible.

The AutoFEST organizers and sponsors thank Maisto for their generosity and look forward to building a long-term relationship. It is companies such as these, offering their support, that make this a true collector’s event.

AutoFEST is a family-friendly die cast collector’s event that takes place in South Bend, IN each year. This year the event runs August 14-16, 2009 and includes numerous die cast manufacturers and vendors from around the United States and Canada. The show includes a reservation only collector dinner along with many events for the entire family. Additional information can be found at www.theautofest.com (http://www.theautofest.com/) .

Some of their most successful lines include Pro Rodz, Playerz, All Stars and Tonka diecast. They are located on the web at www.maisto.com (http://www.maisto.com/)

MINI-MOTORS, Inc. is an online die cast retailer located in Minneapolis, MN focused solely on 1/64 scale castings from various manufacturers. It gives us great pleasure to welcome Shelby Collectibles to the AutoFest team. Our very own Scott Moen of Dirty Bingo fame worked hand in hand with Bud at Shelby to knock out two show exclusive casting variations, factory produced, and sealed, for our enjoyment! These photos are early casting Photoshop mock-ups done on the 2009 Shelby Mustang GT 500 that should look very close to the final casting versions we will be offered! 200 cars will be produced for the Fest Feast Totes in brilliant white with red Shelby stripes. If you look closely at the rear plate you’ll note the AutoFest vanity plate done special and only for us. The Dirty Bingo variation, again produced in a limited run of only 200, will carry the same Fest Feast Shelby 500GT look and also include the gumball number on the doors to commemorate the year and include “AutoFest Racing Team” on the quarter panel! These castings will be done in the same quality we have all come to admire with Shelby Collectibles and will only be offered at the Bingo game. With a little luck Scott will continue to work with Bud so that a couple sneak peeks can be offered up during the Fest Feast Manufacturer’s presentations just to keep our juices flowing.

Just another reason not to miss this year’s show and again a BIG welcome to our friends at Shelby!

The clock never stops for AutoFest updates. Here is a sneak peak at another new road course planned for the show this year still in early mock-up. Both Randy and Craig will be on hand with master tech tips, tuning and any help needed from novice to advanced racing. This will give us a drag strip, new road course and the track used at both Chicago LightningFests. With the awesome addition of the exclusive new casting AutoWorld is doing for the Fest Feast Tote bag I expect to see everyone getting some track time in. John Clark from Slot Car Johnnies and Jeff Clemence from MotorCity Toyz will be on hand and well stocked to handle any wants or needs and the slot car “room” should be a highlight to the show this year.

Don’t miss out on this year’s show as we are taking it to a whole new level!

AutoFest is pleased to announce the partnership with the Coachmen Auto Club. Coachmen has been running the Cavalcade of Wheels car show for 49 years (www.cavalcadeofwheels.com (http://www.cavalcadeofwheels.com/)) and has been one of the top indoor car shows in the Midwest for a long time. We will both be making the new move over to the Century Center in August and hopefully be part of their show in March as well. The August indoor car show will also be called AutoFest and Coachmen will run all of the car show details. For August we are looking to show off over 150 + show cars indoors and the March Cavalcade of Wheels will be 275+ cars! If gives us all a chance to get our feet wet at a new location and a new venue before we take the entire convention center over. The fee to enter a show car is only 10.00 and applications can be found at the AutoFest web site (www.theautofest.com (http://www.theautofest.com/)) and later at the Coachmen site listed above. Cars must set-up Friday and be show ready by 9:59 A.M. Saturday morning and can’t be moved until the end of the show Sunday night. Gate fee will only be 5.00 a person and children get in free so we are keeping costs family friendly. AutoFest will still hold all the same events as in the past but due to the size of the new show, Friday night Fest Feast and Saturday night Dirty Bingo Pizza party will still be held at the Comfort Suites Grand Ballroom but all the other events and the Coachmen AutoFest Car show will be held at the Century Center under one very large roof and the view and setting is like no other. To see the new site please check out www.centurycenter.org (http://www.centurycenter.org/). Our hotel of choice remains the Comfort Suites which is a couple mile drive away from the Century Center and all nightly functions (Fest Feast, Bingo, Room to Room Trading, Hospitality Room etc.) will still be offered at the hotel.

Previous Coachmen shows have brought in as many as 40,000 people for a weekend event so all the AutoFest events, vendors and manufacturers should have lots of new opportunities to show off themselves to lots of new blood and an obvious car friendly group of people. Please join me in welcoming the Coachmen Auto Club to the AutoFest Team.
