ToddFalkowski 02-16-2009, 11:59 AM This is the weekend... Michiana Oval Madness III!
I know many past champs and TQ's will be in the house...
Have YOU got what it takes?
KenBajdek 02-17-2009, 12:51 PM Count me in for 13.5 or 21.5 whichever car runs better plus the sprinter. I sealed up my speedo better this time so the smoke stays inside and doesn't leak out. Once the smoke gets out the speedo isn't any good!!
ToddFalkowski 02-17-2009, 12:53 PM That's awesome, Ken! Like a neon light... Gotta keep the stuff inside for it to glow!
hussel7 02-17-2009, 10:33 PM 13.5 and/or 21.5 ( can i pit down stairs?)
ToddFalkowski 02-17-2009, 10:40 PM 13.5 and/or 21.5 ( can i pit down stairs?)
Mike- will be great to see ya there! Downstairs is possible, but trying my best to keep it for guys that have a physical difficulty heading up stairs... See what I can do, though!
ToddFalkowski 02-17-2009, 10:47 PM NOTE TO RACERS:
In regards to 13.5-4 cell & 21.5-LiPo:
These classes willbe run together. We've found them to be near identical at our track.
For 21.5 / LiPo: We will follow BRL rules (3200mAh 28C SMC LiPo is the allowed pack)
In regards to ANY class using LiPo batteries:
Leave the heating pads at home: We will follow BRL rules in regards to heating (not to exceed 10 degrees of ambient temperature)
No overcharging! We will be teching both heat and voltage.
Any questions, please ask or PM me. See ya this weekend!
ToddFalkowski 02-19-2009, 10:11 PM Was asked on our Michiana RC Oval thread-

airconde 02-23-2009, 10:40 AM Thanks Todd and company great food and fun
ToddFalkowski 02-24-2009, 12:02 AM Michiana Oval Madness is H-I-S-T-O-R-Y!
...In case you didn't feel like showing up, or your picture is on the side of a milk carton, here's what you missed...
Over 50 racers came out to try to add their name to the list of Madness winners. All through the day, REALLY close battles and even closer finishes made the stories of the day.
Losi Mini-Sliders! Good battle in qualifying between Tim Waaso, Daren Miller, and Orange Julius himself, Chuck Bolin for the TQ. In the end, Tim Waaso pulled it out, two seconds ahead of Daren. In the main, Tim pulled out the feature win, with Daren and Chuck finishing how they qualified, second and third. Your Northern Indiana Points Series leader Jeff Qualls had a "black cloud" kinda day, but managed to qualify fourth and finish fifth.
17.5 Four-Cell Pan Cars: From the start of practice, the RIP ride of Bobby Blount was the car to beat. Bobby went on to TQ, with Steve Stacy and young Thiler Claxton qualifying second and third. In the B Feature, Scott Stewart won a close battle over Tommy Allen and Mini-Slider winner Tim Waaso- one second separated the three! In the A, Bobby had a few challenges, but took the win in convincing fashion. Second qualifier Steve Stacy had tough luck in the main, and wound up fifth. A three-way battle raged on for second for most of the race between Thiler Claxton, Jeremy Smith and Daren Miller. Daren spun it on the ice at the end, leaving Thiler and Jeremy to battle it out. On the final corner, Jeremy put a good inside move on Thiler and just made the pass to take second, leaving Thiler in third.
13.5 Four-Cell / 21.5 BRL LiPo Pan Cars This combo class drew by far the largest crowd, with a stout field of over 20 racers! After three rounds of qualifying, the Muddslide man himself, Charlie Flanagan took TQ honors over last years' champ Brian Deel- by .048 sec! Travis Russell put the russellrc.com ride into third. Mike Hessel put himself fourth on the grid, with Ken Bajdek and Todd Falkowski rounding out the show.
In the D feature, Greg Sevison, Kevin Allen, and Kevin Allen, Jr put on a great show, swapping positions all race long! Greg went on to take the win, followed by Kevin and Kevin Jr.
In the C feature, Josh Medford put in a great drive to win over Jon Tully and Shawn Bokon.
In the B feature, David Claxton (proud pops of Thiler) and "filthy" Nick Seiler ran nose-to-tail for most of the race, putting on a great show. In the end, Nick took the win over David, who fell victim to a backmarker. Jesse Carlton put a good run in for third.
I'll apoligize for the play-by-play in the A feature, as I was in it. I do remember the clean start didn't last long- looked a little like a scene out of Days of Thunder. Travis Russell got collected early, dropping out. I dropped out soon after with my battered horse. In the end, C3, Deel and Mike Hessel put a great run in, with C3 beating out Mike and Brian (should be noted- C3 got sideways and went under the line one lap, missing a lap- altering the printout.)
10.5 Outlaw Sprint Cars! One of the stoutest fields we've ever seen, the A feature was separated by one lap! Further- one second sepatated second through fourth!!! Top Qualifier Travis Russell had a black cloud over him, as he was hit in a warmup lap, shearing the RR off his car. Without Travis, a great battle for the lead was put on by Pete Russell and Ken Bajdek. In the end, Pete held on for the win, Ken was second, and Dustin Shriver finished third.
On behalf of Aaron, Pat and myself from Michiana RC, we want to thank everyone that came out, as well as race sponsors Hooters of Mishawaka for the wings & donations, as well as Muddslide Motorsports, Pete Russell's Hobby Shop & Speedway, and Lefthander-RC for their generous donations for door prizes!
See y'all next year!
