The E-Firestorm got very good reviews when the few r.c. car magazines reviewed it. The all metal tranny gears will help it handle any motor you want to drop in and the durability is supposed to be superb. Just a few things to consider: it has a gear diff instead of a ball diff so there's no adjustability (not sure if HPI offers a ball diff, but they might). Not saying you couldn't race it, you just can't adjust the diff if needed (except trying different grease). Also, unless I'm mistaken, I believe you need to use HPI specific wheels instead of the more common wheel. If you have a local hobby shop which would have good parts support for HPI vehicles, it would be a very nice truck to race or bash:thumbsup:.

I have heard of a few issues with the gear diff posted on rc tech. but all of them were with guys trying to run like 5.5's in the truck, so I would take it as if you ran some reasonable motor you should be fine.

A kid runs an HPI E-Firestorm with a Mamba Max 5700 at our indoor carpet track and it is mind boggling the amount of punishment that thing has absorbed without breaking anything.

HPI plastics are legendary for their durability. The Savage is a testament to this. The E-Firestorm looks very stout.
