I saw it on Friday- Didn't have to pay to get in ( I had the coupon from the DVD set). I liked it. Visually great- Especially Victor- mean and brooding- and his eyes the way they glowed in the shadows. Sonjia was great (wished she had more fight scenes though). My only gripe is the quick editing in the battles
(typical in modern films). It's a good Saturday movie. There's also a surprise at the end too;)

I saw it on Sunday, and enjoyed it as well. Mind you, I'm not a fan of the series--I though Underworld was just okay, and liked Underworld: Evolution far less--so die-hard fans might disagree with my opinion.

Quibbles - The Lycans (in werewolf form, that is) still look fake; big surprise. The pacing in the first half of the film is a bit slow, but it picks up when it should. Also, with the exception of Viktor, the vampires aren't particularly effective or menacing; IMO this film could easily have been about a class struggle in the Dark Ages with nobles replacing the vamps and peasants replacing the Lycans, and the film wouldn't have been much different.

On the plus side, good storytelling with no wasted film. Solid performances throughout, particularly Bill Nighy as Viktor and Rhona Mitra as Viktor's daughter Sonja, and an excellent performance by Michael Sheen as Lucian. Most reviews I read commented about the quick cuts, close-up shots, and brevity of the battle scenes, but I felt they served the film well.

Of the three Underworld films I liked this one best, but, again, I'm not a fan of the series.

Isn't Lycan already plural? :jest:

I'll see it when it's released down here - hey, part of it was filmed in NZ, IIRC.

And I'm bound to be lycan it... :jest:

John O.Lycan is simply an abbreviation for lycanthrope. Besides, Lucian himself uses the pluralized form in the film: "We can be slaves, or we can be Lycans!" :p
